Richard Fahey column on his full Saturday team at four meetings

With runners at Newmarket, Ascot, Haydock, Redcar and Ayr for our star columnist on Saturday, don't miss his horse-by-horse guide.

15.45 Newmarket - Diamond Sparkles

She’s a filly we really like. I thought it was a competitive race she won at Thirsk last time and we were delighted with her there. There’s more to come but she does need to step up quickly going into a Group Three at Newmarket.

16.20 Newmarket - Great Prospector

He’s a horse I like a lot and rain would help him – I probably wouldn’t run him it it dries out as he does like some cut. He was badly hampered at York last time and you can forget that run and he’d previously twice run well off this mark.

15:25 Ascot - Amber Spark

Her form is there for everyone to see and we have no real excuses for her last two defeats at Salisbury and York. She’ll need to be at her very best here.

15.40 Haydock - Gabrial The Devil

He just didn’t perform at all at Goodwood last week and needs to bounce back. He seems well in himself though and the forecast rain is very much in his favour.

15.40 Haydock - Powerallied

I always feel Chester is his place. I know they have different ratings on the all-weather and turf – he could do with one for the Roodee and one for elsewhere. He was tenth in the consolation race for the Unibet Stewards’ Cup last week and needs to step up on that.

16.45 Haydock - Gabrial The Wire

He’s had a little break and is a nice, progressive horse with some good handicap form to his name. I hope he runs well on his return.

13.15 Redcar - Mr Fudge

He’s been disappointing hence why he’s running in a seller here. On some of his earlier form he’d have a definite chance but he was a big price and never looked like winning in a Hamilton nursery last time. He’s down in grade and I hope he runs well for his owners.

14.55 Redcar - Defence Treaty

I think he could run alright as I thought he shaped better than his finishing position would suggest at Newcastle last time. He’s in good form we’re very happy with him. I’m hoping he goes well.

14.55 Redcar - Maggies Angel

She’s half running herself into form right now and is extremely well handicapped if she gets there. She’s not really shown her smart two-year-old levels for a long time now and I have to say she’s been disappointing, but the handicapper has given her a chance if she was to come back.

15.30 Redcar - Nicki's Angel

She’s a lovely filly that had an issue with her knee last year; it was nothing serious and we sorted it, but she’s just lost her confidence a little. Her work at home continues to be good though and I’d love to see her bounce back for owner Phil Smith.

16.05 Redcar - Noble Prospector

He’s been running well but just bumping into one in his races and deserves to pick up a race as his form is very solid. We have nothing hidden from the handicapper and would be vulnerable to a progressive rival but will run our race again.

17.55 Ayr - Trevie Fountain

He looks one for nurseries. His form is what he is and it would’t be good enough to win this but hopefully the handicapper will give him a chance to be competitive.

19.55 Ayr - Grab And Run

He didn’t stay the mile at Sandown the last day; he came there to win a furlong out and didn’t get home. The switch back to seven furlongs is the right move and he should be competitive.
