Horse Racing Tips: Nap of the Day, best bets around the tracks and daily Request-A-Bet

Matt Brocklebank has the Monday best bets from around the tracks including a Nap selection on the card at Ayr.

Monday selections

Sky Bet odds | Paddy Power | Betfair Sportsbook | Free bets

YAASER - 4.05 Ayr (NAP)

Twilight Diamond is probably a bit better than able to show at Southwell last time and should win handicaps in time, while Our Dagger has clearly clicked since joining this yard and looks a progressive one back on turf after a 75-day break. However, it could be best to keep things simple and side with YAASER, who is always fairly dangerous when competing from a mark around 70 and is entitled to strip fitter for last week's Redcar return when shaping well in third at 40/1 after a sluggish start. He likes this course and distance and has the ground to suit as well.

KITTY FURNIVAL - 3.15 Lingfield

Simon and Ed Crisford are going well at present and can add to their tally courtesy of KITTY FURNIVAL at Lingfield. She's not always the best away from the stalls but should get a decent pace to chase here thanks to Sax Appeal and she's well proven when fresh from a layoff too. The daughter of Zarak was placed off this mark (86) on a couple of occasions after winning on handicap debut at Wolverhampton from 3lb lower and should have a bit more to offer as she matures at four.

FIRST OFFICER - 6.30 Windsor

FIRST OFFICER is a pretty reliable stick and having won twice from marks of 76 and 78 last season, he looks a leading player running off 79 on his seasonal debut this time around. The first of those victories came in this very same race 12 months ago and the quicker conditions on this occasion are of no concern either as he's scored on good to firm in the past as well as soft. Stall two (same as last year) looks a decent spot and David Egan returns to the saddle for the first time since the pair teamed up to good effect at Newmarket in September 2023. There's plenty to like, in short.

HYPE MERCHANT - 6.50 Wolverhampton

I Follow Rivers is likely to be all the rage again after shaping quite well when favourite last time but HYPE MERCHANT may have an advantage from a tactical perspective and he is preferred on value grounds. David Loughnane's gelding ran well when stepped back up to seven furlongs at Chelmsford earlier in the month, responding positively to the addition of blinkers which are retained here. He has very little pace pressure in this line-up according to Timeform's forecast and could get a soft lead through the early stages which ought to make him hard to peg back off the same mark this evening.

Tuesday selections

Sky Bet odds | Paddy Power | Betfair Sportsbook | Free bets

BEACH POINT - 5.38 Nottingham (NAP)

BEACH POINT looks the best bet on the card at Nottingham, William Knight's horses backed to land the final race following a promising comeback run when second at Yarmouth earlier in the month. The son of Blue Point seems to like a sound surface and, having gone up just 1lb for the reappearance effort, when hitting the front before it looked like the lack of a recent run told late on, he's well worth another chance with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle.

EL MADAR - 2.55 Brighton

EL MADAR is expected to do better at three and hopefully having him gelded over the winter can see the son of Mohaather step up on what he showed at two. He's also undergone wind surgery which may help explain why he wasn't fully seeing out his races last year but there's also a chance he just didn't stay the mile when last seen in a Goodwood maiden towards the end of August. He's got sprinters in the pedigree and could be nicely handicapped starting out in this sphere on his return to competitive action.

RADIO STAR - 8.30 Wolverhampton

RADIO STAR was nosed out of it on her return in a Southwell maiden earlier in the month but is backed to make amends switched to a handicap at Wolverhampton. Ollie Sangster's filly has clearly trained on from two to three, in fact it was an improved effort on anything she showed last season including when just touched off against at Nottingham in November. The hood worn last time if left off and Hollie Doyle takes over from Sam James in the saddle.
