David Ord's Tuesday Nap won - check out his remaining selections.
Tuesday selections
WHOSMYDADDY - 5.00 Carlisle
His handicap mark is falling and WHOSMYDADDY looks ready to return to winning ways.
He is forecast to get an uncontested lead in this and is back down to his last winning mark. Stuart Coltherd’s team are going well and everything looks in place for a big run.
PARTY BEAR - 7.00 Southwell
She’s made a bright start to life in handicaps and PARTY BEAR is taken to score again.
Karl Burke’s charge is up six pounds for her win at Wolverhampton last time but that was a taking performance, beating Maids Head by a length-and-a-half. It was a career best effort and there looks to be more to come.
Wednesday selections
SOMETHING SPLENDID – 3.35 Nottingham
Division One of the Beer Festival 12th April Handicap at Nottingham looks at the mercy of It’s Only Fun, who is 5lb well in under a penalty, at first glance, but it didn’t look much of a race he won at Musselburgh and I’d be inclined to take him on with something each-way. With SOMETHING SPLENDID, in fact, who showed glimmers of talent at Southwell last October and might just take off now he’s three. His half-brother, Something Enticing, won a Nottingham handicap first time back on turf as a three-year-old and Peter Chapple-Hyam tends to do very well when he brings one to Nottingham in April.
UNTIL DAWN – 2.43 Catterick
Alan Brown’s UNTIL DAWN has improved significantly on the all-weather since wind surgery and a chance is taken on her translating that progression to turf in the Raceday Ready Handicap over five furlongs at Catterick. A winner at Newcastle and Southwell in January and February, she ran well at the latter track again off her new mark last time, paying for being a bit keen in front as Blinky took advantage. She’s nicely drawn to attain a prominent pitch back on the grass here and her conditioning from the all-weather campaign is obviously no bad thing.
PHOENIX RISEN – 3.25 Taunton
Dropping PHOENIX RISEN in class to a 0-100 with 7lb claimer Chad Bament on looks a shrewd move by Jeremy Scott and his eight-year-old can land the Lucia Stevens Handicap Hurdle at Taunton. Twice a course and distance winner, both those victories coming in the month of April, Phoenix Risen likes this track at this time of year and he signalled a return to form here under this jockey last time. He won this race two years ago from a prominent position and there’s every chance of history repeating itself here.
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL – 5.40 Kempton
Smart prospect LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL can continue her progression for John & Thady Gosden in the Fillies Novice over 1m at Kempton (5.40). The daughter of Night Of Thunder made a big impression when winning over the course and distance on debut last November, belying inexperience to beat a well-backed 6/5 favourite trained by Ralph Beckett, Revelance, who already had a run under her belt. That’s the best form in this field and she has the potential to match it.
