Ian Ogg had a 13/2 Thursday winner - check out Matt Brocklebank's best bets from around the tracks on Friday, featuring a Nap north of the border.
INOX ALLEN should have derived considerable benefit from his comeback run and chasing debut at Uttoxeter in November, that event containing several promising types based on their hurdling form. He didn't badly in third from 4lb out of the handicap (sent off 12/1) but ran like the experience was needed and it's no surprise to see him turn up at Musselburgh second time out given the way he jumped away to his right. A dual hurdles winner including on soft ground, the recent rain should mean the surface is ideal and he looks to have plenty of potential down in class running off his correct mark of 124.
THERAPIST - 1.15 Lingfield
THERAPIST has looked a bit of a non-stayer when hurdling but shaped very well in a strong fillies' handicap over 10 furlongs at Lingfield last month. She returns to the same venue off a 1lb lower mark and looks likely to handle the step up to a mile and a half, having been caught a bit flat-footed when the tempo increased last time. A stronger end-to-end gallop (Raintown likely to take them along at a good clip) should help and Therapist is backed to continue Nicky Henderson's fine run of form after a New Year's Day double at Cheltenham.
STARSONG - 6.30 Southwell
Mick Appleby's horses have been running consistently well on the all-weather of late, a 6% strike-rate in the past fortnight certainly not telling the whole story after a string of seconds, thirds and fourths. STARSONG looks well capable of getting in on the act after her runner-up effort at Lingfield the other week. Prominent from the outset in a six-furlong handicap that day, the mare was closing in on the winner again at the line and looks ready for a return to seven, despite all four of her career wins coming at the start trip. She's 1lb well-in for this so is still 4lb lower than when last successful and stall four looks a bit of a bonus too.
