WALSINGHAM - 4.12 Pontefract (NAP)

WALSINGHAM deserves another chance after a low-key debut run for David O'Meara at Redcar last month. The lively enough ground and seven-furlong trip appeared to catch him out a little bit that day, and stepping back up to a mile on what could be softer ground looks absolutely ideal here. The pick of his form for Dermot Weld in Ireland last year leaves him looking pretty well handicapped, especially after being eased 2lb for the aforementioned comeback run, which is entitled to have helped sharpen him up anyway, and Danny Tudhope taking over in the saddle is another positive sign.

COPSHILL LAD - 2.42 Stratford

There are loads of reasons to expect an improved display from COPSHILL LAD at Stratford, including a wind op since the last run and fitting of first-time cheekpieces. Above all, he's joined the rapidly-progressive yard of Harry Derham who looks likely to get even more from the six-year-old former bumper winner who was placed a number of times over hurdles for previous connections. Alice Stevens takes the ride and her 33% strike-rate (6-18) over hurdles for the yard is seriously impressive.

SARMIENTO POWER - 4.35 Yarmouth

SARMIENTO POWER is evidently going the right way and looks a potential improver again on his second run in a handicap at Yarmouth. The move up to 10 furlongs suited the son of Churchill when runner-up on his return from a break (been gelded) at Newcastle last month and he's got another furlong and a half to travel here which doesn't look like being an issue at all. Roger Varian's chestnut can overcome a 2lb rise for the latest effort and open his account at the fifth time of asking.

BOSSY PARKER - 7.00 Wolverhampton

BOSSY PARKER continues to slide down the weights but shaped a good bit better than in his earlier efforts when fifth of 12 over six furlongs here last month. Beaten just a couple of lengths and sticking on at the finish, he looks likely to appreciate a return to seven this evening and, after another 1lb drop, he's now 4lb lower than when successful over this course and distance back in March.
