John Ingles kept the winners coming on New Year's Day and now Ian Ogg returns to the hot-seat with his best Friday bets from around the country.
Friday selections
DIFFERENT TONE - 13:12 Chelmsford (NAP)
Having missed 2024, it's taken a while for DIFFERENT TONE to return to form but his latest third at Wolverhampton was a step in the right direction and he can build on that back up in trip. Runner-up over C&D on his final start for Ed Walker in November 2023 in a higher grade, Different Tone can take advantage of a rating that's 5lb lower than that day and one that's still below his last winning mark.
PARISH QUIZ - 14:00 Ayr
A chance is taken on newcomer to handicaps PARISH QUIZ who changed hands for £100,000 after two point-to-point runs in Ireland. The first of those races has thrown up a few winners and Parish Quiz now faces a more realistic opportunity after running in some quite well contested races under Rules. The cheekpieces go on and stepping up in trip should suit this stoutly bred individual who has shown enough to believe that he can be competitive off 96.
CHER MONSIEUR - 15:20 Fakenham
It's taken a while for CHER MONSIEUR to prove competitive but the switch to handicapping over longer trips has brought about some improvement and he made a satisfactory return from six months off when a staying on fourth at Southwell. The handicapper has given him every chance (5lb lower than his opening mark) while Neil Mulholland has reached for cheekpieces and the services of Irish amateur Adam Ryan who has a decent strike rate for the yard (3 wins from 11 rides) and the combination may enable Cher Monsieur to open his account.
LANDLORDTOTHESTARS - 18:30 Wolverhampton
LANDLORDTOTHESTARS gained a first success since January 2024 when beating the re-opposing Straight A over C&D in November and can follow-up. He had shown little in two starts prior to that but returned to something like his best and this consistent performer on artificial surfaces (15-4-3-1) remains feasibly treated from only 1lb higher.
