Matt Brocklebank had a 7/1 winner on Monday and now looks ahead to Tuesday's action.
I've always been a bit of a fan of THE COFFEE POD and, the truth is, he's probably not won as many races as he should have. However, he's got plenty of form to suggest he can win at this level and gave a clear indication that he was still in really good nick when second at Nottingham just the other week. He's lightly raced on the all-weather and has never been to Southwell but has the early pace required to get a good position here and could be the one to beat under Joe Leavy claiming 3lb.

This looks a nice opportunity for Marco Botti's TIMETOBENICE, who hasn't had much racing since winning his maiden at Kempton 12 months ago but made an encouraging return to action at Wolverhampton recently. Easy enough to back that day (9/1 from 11/2), he got a bit of a rough trip through but stayed on nicely to be fourth, beaten less than two lengths, and gets another chance off the same mark here. He's got Southwell experience to draw upon too and stepping back up to this longer trip looks a positive move for the son of Time Test.
Considering he was keen enough through the early stages, PRINCE OF PERTH ran on quite nicely to be fourth (of 14) on his return from a long absence at Hexham last month and, with the Lucinda Russel yard clearly going through the gears now, he is fancied to step forward appreciably from the comeback outing. The stiff finish at Carlisle could be right up his street.
The handicapper hasn't gone overboard in raising LUNAR CONTACT 4lb for winning a small novices' handicap on just his second start over fences and he returns to Fakenham less than a month later with the increasingly impressive Callum Pritchard claiming 7lb. Good ground clearly isn't an issue and this former point winner ought to have a bit more improvement in the locker.
