Rory Delargy returns with his Punting Pointers for the action at Kempton Park this evening.
Racing betting tips: Wednesday March 26
1pt win Lady Manzor in 6.00 Kempton at 7/2 (General) – min 3/1
1pt win Pietro in 6.30 Kempton at 11/2 (General) – min 9/2
6.00 Kempton
LADY MANZOR has quickly built up a good rapport with 7lb claimer Jack Dace, winning her last two, including on handicap debut over C&D last time when stylishly overcoming a slow start.
That was Dace’s third winner from as many rides for Amanda Perrett and the handicapper has not been at all harsh in raising her 4lb for that success. Prior to her win last time, she had defied clear signs of greenness to win by a clear margin at Lingfield and it’s more than likely that the handicapper has taken her progress lightly.
She should be more professional with three races behind her now and while this is quite a competitive race on paper, she is fancied to bring up her hat-trick.
6.30 Kempton
The second division of this handicap looks a little more tepid than the first, and with the James Fanshawe stable making a fine start to 2025, PIETRO is fancied to make a winning return. A nursery winner over this trip at Epsom in August, the son of Sands of Mali ran at least as well when runner-up in his two subsequent outings last season.
Pietro’s handicap runs to date have come on turf but Fanshawe has an excellent record when first switching his handicappers to the all-weather, enjoying a strike-rate in excess of 20% with such horses at Kempton in particular.
Hopes that Pietro will improve for the switch to this track also comes from that fact that Sands of Mali’s offspring have a 44% strike-rate at Kempton.
7.00 Kempton
Mount Athos has a tricky task on paper coming from the widest stall for this high-class handicap but he’s unbeaten over C&D in four runs here, including this race last season and has overcome the widest draw for another of those wins.
He looked as good as ever when winning a Listed race at Deauville in November and starts the season just 1lb higher than he was a year ago.
Trainer James Tate has had nine winners from just 26 runners in 2025 and there is no reason to think that Mount Athos won’t give his running again here, making him look hard to beat.
