An open-looking handicap, but TOCA MADERA looks a big price if you’re willing to forgive a below-par effort at Southwell last time, which was his first go on an artificial surface.

His length third to Shagraan at Goodwood (2lb better off today) at 66-1 was a bolt from the blue, but he showed it was no fluke when winning a Racing League handicap at Windsor on his next start, always racing near the pacer and asserting well in the final furlong. He took on some tough opposition at two and has probably just been a little high in the handicap for much of the season, but looks back on song now. .
