Huna ready to strike

Last week's tip Min Huna bypassed Doncaster but connections' patience can be rewarded in the fillies' handicap at Newmarket on Saturday. The selection comfortably exploited an opening mark of 78 when stepped up to 1m2f against elders at Sandown last month and takes on her own sex this time. The quality daughter of Dubawi made all in a Windsor and can dictate off an 8lb higher mark.

Similarly, Lexington Blitz didn't take up an option in the Group Two Flying Childers on Town Moor but has an easier assignment in the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes at Ayr on Friday. This very speedy colt is well named and impressed in a 5f novice at Chepstow three weeks ago. The penalised juvenile made all to win unchallenged and the Windsor maiden he won has produced nursery winners.

Fellow notebook horse Filibustering looks ready to win having caught the eye at Haydock a fortnight ago. Tim Easterby's strong stayer endured a luckless run when fifth against his own generation over 1m6f. Locked on the inner over two-out and forced to ease to the outer when the leaders were quickening, he kept on under hand riding and would benefit from a strong pace. He is well handicapped and should go close over a similar trip at Chester on Saturday.

Across the card, American Affair will relish the step up to 6f in the Ayr Gold Cup. The highly progressive four-year-old landed a gamble in the Portland to justify Paul Mulrennan's confidence. asked the jockey which horse he was most looking forward to riding at the St Leger meeting? He revealed: "'Im really looking forward to American Affair in the Portland, as he's got a great chance; I'm not looking forward to getting down to 8st 13lb."

Connections decided to ride the highly progressive four-year-old with bundles of patience and delivered him with a perfectly timed challenge.

Steadied at the start, American Affair didn't enjoy a clear run when switched left over a furlong out and switched right before making good headway in the final furlong.

Mulrennan said: "Jim Goldie told me to ride him cold and be very patient. He'll be some horse next year; there's so much more to come."

Two more additions

Top Bins will surely score soon. He was very well backed on debut in the 6f novice at Chester on Friday but didn't break quickly. He used a lot of energy mid-race when very wide but kept on in the straight. Hugo Palmer targeted his local track with this good son of Soldier's Call and compensation awaits.

Backed from 9/1 into 11/4, Top Bins was unable to close on prominently ridden winning favourite Bob Mali, who had the benefit of a winning debut at Ayr.

Jason Watson's mount cost 54,000 guineas as a foal and 60,000 guineas as a yearling and the dam is a half-sister to 6f Group One winner Glen Shiel.

Aramram also goes in the notebook having beaten elders in the 6f handicap for apprentice riders at Doncaster on Sunday.

Always travelling smoothly in midfield, Richard Hannon's unexposed three-year-old wore down in-form favourite Archduke Ferdinand; front two clear.

Lightly raced, the progressive son of Blue Point made all to win a 6f novice at Nottingham in May and was a good third over the same trip at Goodwood two weeks ago.
