Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Friday's meeting at Lingfield.
12.55 - DREAM CHASER is a full-brother to the useful sprinter Visionary, who won at Listed level and made a winning debut. Harry Dunlop’s colt gets the speculative vote of these newcomers. Both Patsy Fagan and Mighty Gurkha hail from yards that can get one ready for action while Coco Bear is another to note with Oisin Murphy doing the steering. Colorando is a half-sister to four winners and Hot Scoop is related to a couple of winners on the all-weather.
1.30 - BOWMAN is related to the two-year-old Listed winner Delizia, who made a winning debut on the all-weather for Mark Johnston. He should have plenty of pace and gets a tentative vote. Brutal Lion is a half-brother to a couple of winners from his stable while Mark Of The Man is a half-brother to four winners and another to consider. Igotatext, Cotopaxi and Lothian are others to note for any significant support in the betting.
2.05 - Tomfre showed good progress last year before struggling in Group 2 company while Surf Dancer was well beaten on the heavy ground at Newmarket in the Horris Hill in November. Mr Kiki looked outclassed in the Mill Reef at Newbury last time while Verboten never recovered from a slow start in the rescheduled Group 1 Futurity at Newcastle in November and has drawn on the outside here along with Corvair. The latter has won both starts in handicaps this year and is 6lb higher but Huboor has been raised 12lb for winning a nursery at Headquarters in September. GIFTED RULER (NAP) came up short in Listed company over 6f in France last time but the half-brother to the smart Kachy, a prolific winner on the all-weather, may well improve for this longer trip and could run a big race.
2.40 - The action moves on to the Turf track for this Oaks Trial and John Gosden, who won this with subsequent Oaks winner Anapurna last year, has a strong hand once again. He runs three with MISS YODA preferred on her second in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes over 1m2f at Newmarket to Max Vega. The latter is trained by Ralph Beckett and he sends Heart Reef, who came up short in Listed company last time but will appreciate this longer trip. Anastarsia struggled in the Fillies’ Mile when last in action while stablemate and Godolphin filly Lake Lucerne won a maiden race over 1m2f at Chelmsford. West End Girl won the Sweet Solera over 7f back in August but lost her way after that and So I Told You makes most appeal of the remainder having landed a maiden race at Nottingham in October.
3.15 - This trial race produced last year’s Derby winner in Anthony Van Dyck. None of these were rated as highly as the latter as two-year-olds but BERKSHIRE ROCCO looks to have the strongest form on his third in a Group 3 race over 1m2f at Newmarket behind runner-up Miss Yoda, who runs in the earlier Oaks Trial. Sound Of Cannons was aimed high last year and may do better at this level while King Carney was a Listed winner over a mile at Pontefract and should stay the extra distance. Jockey bookings suggest King's Caper is preferred to stablemate Dark Heart and the former should also have the measure of Summeronsevenhills while English King and Pride Of America are maiden and novice race winners on the all-weather respectively and both upped in class today.
3.50 - It’s back on to the Polytrack surface for this and Crimewave reversed earlier running with Noble Peace when scoring over 1m2f here in February. The latter has yet to race over this far but Blue Medici had the measure of Natty Night when scoring over 1m4f at Wolverhampton back in November. Brighton Pier won a novice race at the latter track at the end of last year and has plenty of scope but IMPERIUM is preferred. The latter won over today’s trip at Kempton before placing over 2m here last time and Roger Charlton’s charge should be winning again soon off his current mark.
4.25 - Richard Fahey’s name appears in the race title and another bold bid is expected from Silver Dust, 5lb higher for winning nicely at Kempton in March. But FORTUNE AND GLORY was beaten less than a length in a higher grade at the same track last time and looks capable of winning off his current mark with Oisin Murphy taking over the reins. Voltaic’s victory at Windsor came over 6f in a claimer while several are looking to take advantage of a slide down the weights including Fares Poet and Hunni. In The Cove is back on a winning mark and Muraahin has the most scope.
5.00 - Sword Exceed won a lower grade sprint over track and trip at the start of the year and can go well again but REAL ESTATE looks worth another chance. He was beaten less than a length when fourth at Wolverhampton last time having earlier rattled-up a hat-trick on the all-weather and Mike Attwater’s charge looks worth sticking with. Royal Dynasty was also in fine form earlier this year but has been raised 6lb for scoring at Chelmsford while Iconic Knight and The Lamplighter are both preferred to Englishman in this grade.
5.35 - National League won a tougher handicap at Hamilton last time but has had no luck with the draw and stablemate Kidda makes his handicap debut along with novice winners Jovial and RIVER NYMPH. The former won at Newcastle in September but the latter landed a tougher contest at Wolverhampton in November and Clive Cox’ colt may prove the one to side with. Caspian Queen drops down in class on her return having beaten Angel Grey when scoring at Goodwood while Little Brown Trout is preferred to Dark Regard and Pop Dancer on his second over track and trip in January.
