Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Saturday's meeting at Gulfstream Park.
17.45 (All times BST, live on Sky Sports Racing): Sweet Giant finished ahead of Traffic Trouble and Jack Beanstalk when runner-up from a wide draw here last month and the latter has since gone close. Dramatic Kitten has drawn high after also finding one too good over track and trip ahead of Took A Cab and that could hand the advantage to MAYITO. Saffie Joseph’s charge has placed in four of his five outings so far and can come good in this taking a further drop in class.
18.15: Wesley Ward is renowned for speedy two-year-old runners and his Nyquist colt BREAKTHROUGH could prove the one to side with in a field of newcomers. The latter recorded a bullet workout earlier in the week while Todd Pletcher runs two with the $420,000 purchase Restored Order preferred to Hyperfocus. Ziggy and Cobb represent an in-form yard as does Full Send, who has shown good pace in recent breezes at the track.
18.45: Cat Lady has strong claims on earlier placed efforts from a wide draw but disappointed here last time without an apparent excuse and a chance is taken on stablemate KAHIKO. Todd Pletcher’s filly will need to show further progress but improved on her latest start and there looks more to come. Dur A Cuire is another drawn out wide with a chance on her best form while both By His Grace and Chouchou De Boo went close in maiden claimers last month.
19.15: Too Much War held on by only a head when making all over track and trip last time while Blame The Gods also scored here in March but is drawn on the outside today. Get Rewarded won a less valuable claimer here last month while Algodonal never threatened the winner when third on her latest start but Dana Grace showed signs of a return to form back on the Turf on her latest start. SAND DRIFT has notched-up a frustrating run of placed efforts since winning here last summer but is having only her second outing of the year having ran well again on her reappearance and she gets the vote representing Saffie Joseph’s leading yard.
19.46: None of those with experience inspire much confidence and recent third Impression Given has had no luck with the draw. Socially Astray ran better over track and trip last time before folding tamely in the closing stages while both Lola Wants and Capeline drop in class but this won’t take much winning and the newcomer POSEIDONS PRINCESS gets a speculative vote. Her yard is in decent form and she’s partnered by the meets leading jockey in Luis Saez.
20.17: STRONG HEADED was beaten less than a length over track and trip last month despite an outside draw and is taken to go one better in this and confirm latest running with Stonecastle in the process. Reconvene finished in front of Eagles Palace when fourth on his reappearance but has been done no favours by the draw and Riggins is preferred with improvement expected on the back of a modest debut effort. Call Curt has been thereabouts in both starts so far but that was over 5f.
20.49: Several return from lay-offs including maiden winner American Tap and Afficionado, who won twice in France last year and debuts for a new trainer. Fast Scene won a stakes races in 2019 and has every chance if ready for action but Compensate has drawn high today after finishing runner-up here in March ahead of third-placed FOOLISH HUMOR. The latter has the more favourable draw on this occasion and is taken to turn the tables with Irad Ortiz doing the steering.
21.27: LOUIE’S KINGDOM has been competing in tougher claimers than this since winning a maiden. He’s switched to Larry Rivelli’s yard after an outing on the Turf and should go close in this company back on the main track. Assertiko also drops in class but Road To Peace has struggled since recording a maiden success and it remains to be seen how Cat Gone Quick copes racing outside of maiden company for the first time.
21.59: This feature race looks wide-open though Admission Office and War Of Will have been done favours by the draw. Todd Pletcher has a strong hand represented by both Halladay and the recent Grade 3 winner Social Paranoia but a chance is taken on EL TORMENTA (NAP) returning to form. He finished well behind Social Paranoia here when drawn out wide on his reappearance but it’s hard to get away from last year’s surprise victory in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile and Gail Cox’s charge has leading claims on that form. Aquaphobia could go well with Irad Ortiz taking over the reins and Hawkish had bits of form at this level last year.
22.30: BATTLE OF BLENHEIM finished in front of Honey Won't, Sublime Appeal and Basha when runner-up here last time. That looks the strongest form on offer and he’s reunited with winning partner Irad Ortiz for this. Maiden winner Gray's Fable is upped in class but Counter Offer will be sharper for a recent comeback run while Jay's Way and War Giant will only race if this switches to the main track.
23.01: I’LL FIGHT DEMPSEY faded in the closing stages over 7f here last time but the return to this shorter trip will suit and the Pletcher colt gets the vote dropping down in class. Tap It To Win was aimed high last year after winning a maiden at Saratoga but may just need this first outing since October while Cryogenic and R Mercedes Boy have both placed at this level with preference for the former. More Than Striking was progressing well before disappointing last time while Hauntedbythemusic and Whiskey Sunrise are maiden winners with plenty of scope.
23.32: Peppi The Hunter has switched yards once again having beaten Dexter Road by four lengths here last month. The latter has subsequently finished second ahead of Trappezoid but was well behind THE QUEENS JULES when Monica McGoey’s charge scored over course and distance in March. He’s been beaten on the Turf subsequently but is taken to confirm earlier superiority with Mr Chaplin back on this surface. Starship Apollo has drawn wide and has yet to win over this far.
