6.15 Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap

Nine runners go to post for the first division of this handicap over a mile-and-a-quarter. Rakematiz shoulders top-weight but probably has the best form on offer when second at Lingfield at the end of last year.

The horse who was just in behind was the much-loved Spare Parts who has since won four and placed twice (going up 20lb in the process) but this four-year-old has been held on three separate occasions when tackling this trip.

Gracious George has done all his winning over 7f/1m but has been dropped 2lb for a four-length defeat over this trip last time and he has the assistance of Nicola Currie plus her more than valuable 5lb claim this time around so may well have a say.

The suggestion, however, is the only previous winner of this distance in the field, ARCADIAN SEA, for William Jarvis.

That success came on Chelmsford’s polytrack back in September from a 2lb lower mark and a line can be put through a more recent outing at that track over a half-mile longer trip.

Now dropping back to his preferred distance and with the booking of the all-weather master Adam Kirby, he is more than capable of adding to that previous win in a fairly moderate race.

8.45 Matchbook Betting Podcast Handicap

This Class 4 handicap over six furlongs is the feature race on a pretty weak card for a Friday evening but it does look a competitive and open betting prospect for punters.

Sparkalot probably needed his return run here three weeks ago and would be of interest having won twice over this course and distance last year.

Daschas was very well backed last time out but probably found five-furlongs too quick for him and now upped in distance could play a hand.

Blazed went close in this grade on Lingfield’s polytrack on his penultimate start from a 1lb lower mark but the worry is that his best efforts have come over the minimum so the selection goes to James Fanshawe’s ENVISAGING.

This four-year-old continues to run well despite being unable to get his head in front in handicap company. He did win a maiden in November at Newcastle over six furlongs pretty cosily and has since finished second and third on the polytrack at Chelmsford and Lingfield respectively, not beaten far on both occasions.

He's still unexposed over this trip having only had those three attempts and P J McDonald in the saddle is interesting with this duo combining for only the fourth time - and they do have a previous success together.
