Soghan probably has the best form on offer having defeated Ocean Of Love (now rated 95) in a maiden at Wolverhampton when last sighted back in December and a mark of 80 looks very workable, though he may come up short to the match fit NATIVE FIGHTER for Simon Dow.
This horse was successful over course and distance last month and the form of that race has worked out very nicely with both the second and sixth-placed horses winning since and the fourth, Sussex Ranger, having featured in Friday’s Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Native Fighter was having just his third start for this handler and he’d gone very close the other two occasions, and the four-year-old looks capable of plenty more improvement in this higher grade from a 5lb higher mark. Oisin Murphy keeps the ride which is a big plus for me as he’s struck up a nice rapport in two spins on the horse.
Take Two ended last year with a win after some solid efforts though he’s yet to win round here from six outings while it’s hard to trust the returning Muhtaris after a 447-day absence.
William Hunter still looks a few pounds too high so it's the colt Native Fighter who is taken to come out on top and continue his trainer’s good form (33% strike-rate in the last month) to make it a track and trip double.
