John Gosden quartet on Cartier Horse of the Year shortlist

Alpha Centauri faces four John Gosden-trained horses on the shortlist for the Cartier Horse of the Year Award.

Horses from the Clarehaven yard have won the accolade three times in the last four years - Kingman (2014), Golden Horn (2015) and Enable (2017) and this time Cracksman, Enable, Roaring Lion and Stradivarius are all in the running.

Alpha Centauri collected four Group One prizes this term - the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas, the Coronation Stakes, the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes and the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois - for trainer Jessica Harrington before injury ended her racing career.

The 28th Cartier Racing Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel on Tuesday.
