Nico de Boinville feels that triple Grade One winner Might Bite is exactly where he needs to be in his build-up towards a tilt at the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 16.
The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old stepped up his preparation for the staying chase championship when participating in a racecourse gallop alongside reigning Champion Hurdle hero Buveur D'Air and fellow stablemate Theinval after racing at Kempton on Saturday.
De Boinville said: "We were very happy with him and it all went to plan. We went a nice even gallop all the way round and finished hard on the bridle.
"He is exactly where we want him to be right now and I'm sure we will carry on doing bits and pieces here and that but I'm sure that will have got him to where we want him to be.
"It was good to get him away on a raceday and get the adrenalin pumping a bit as close to race conditions as we possibly could.
"At the moment we are not thinking too much about the other horses. It is the Gold Cup - they will all be hard to beat. As long as he gets there in one piece, fit and healthy, we will be happy."
Might Bite tops the betting with Sky Bet at 7/2, followed by Native River and last year's winner Sizing John who are 11/2 and 6/1 respectively.
