WATCH: May 10 - Novice Stakes, Wolverhampton
Superstar two-year-olds rarely start out on May 10 as 3/1 shots at Wolverhampton. This one did, showing a bright turn of foot to lead after the furlong market before pulling right away under James Doyle.
WATCH: May 31 - Investec Woodcote EBF Stakes, Epsom
Despite stumbling on emerging from the stalls and, like most juveniles in fairness, finding the cambers of the Epsom track totally against him, the result was still the same as Pinatubo led a furlong from home before just being kept up to his work to win going away - it was to become something of a trademark.
WATCH: June 22 - Chesham Stakes, Royal Ascot
The Ballydoyle dogs were barking about a certain Lope Y Fernandez but Charlie Appleby's ace was well up the task of lowering his colours. He really appreciated the move up to seven furlongs and ultimately slammed the market leader by three and a quarter lengths.
WATCH: July 30 - Qatar Vintage Stakes, Glorious Goodwood
A first Group-race assignment for the son of Shamardal who took the Group 2 Vintage Stakes field apart in devastating fashion. He poured it on after taking over at the head of affairs around a quarter of a mile out and came five lengths clear of the promising Clive Cox representative, Positive.
WATCH: September 15 - Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes, Curragh
This is the one that stands out for many. He was extremely short in the betting at 1/3 but few could have predicted just how impressive Pinatubo would be against two really well-touted, and high-class, home runners from the Aidan O'Brien yard.
WATCH: October 12 - Darley Dewhurst Stakes, Newmarket
A second Group 1 win as the Dewhurst was claimed in straightforward fashion. On the bare figures this wasn't quite on the same level as the Curragh annihilation but beating Arizona two lengths was no mean feat at the end of quite a long juvenile campaign and the horse once again did the business with a real air of authority.
