I AM THUNDER looks a good bet at 11/4 (bet365) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Navan (2.50) this afternoon.
I’m keen to take the favourite, Papa Bear, on, as he just hasn’t kicked on following a really promising run on his second start and he looks vulnerable for my money.
I Am Thunder is the one to beat him as he ran a very good race on debut at Navan. He was much too green early on and got way too far back, but he finished really well once the penny dropped for a one and a quarter length third.
He’s entitled to step up from that, the extra half furlong looks a massive positive and he’s already shown he loves soft ground, as you would expect judging by his pedigree and his action.
He looks a very solid bet.
Later on NULLIFIER is the one to be on in the Bohermeen Handicap at 3.55 at 9/2 (General 1/5 1,2,3).
Strong Johnson is the one to beat, but he’s gone up in the weights 7lb and I’d rather back Ger Lyons’ horse against him each-way.
He was drawn in stall one at the Curragh on his seasonal reappearance and the field split into groups. Nullifier ran on the far side and he ran with great credit having cut out the running.
He’s entitled to improve from that, he’s won over the course and distance with cut in the ground and he could give Strong Johnson plenty to think about at a bigger price.
