NOBLE SEAL looks a very good bet at 15/8 in the opening Buy Online At Irish Yearling Sales Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Leopardstown this afternoon (2.00).
The race title might be hard to say but finding the winner might be a little more simple as there was a huge amount to like about this horse’s debut three weeks ago.
Trained by Jessica Harrington, he was the apparent stable second string on debut here at Leopardstown, but he travelled well on the inside and got badly checked inside the two pole.
He was really badly hampered and was lucky not to come down, but once gathered up he ran on really well to be a half length in front of his stable companion, Los Andes, who franked the form with a win at Navan in the week.
The second, Southern Cape, won at Gowran during the week, too, so it looks a hot race and, drawn in three today, he looks a good bet to boost that form further for a stable that remains in red-hot nick.
Finally, LIGHTNING AMBER is worth a speculative each-way bet at 10/1 in the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale Handicap at 5.45.
She’s a well-bred filly and beat Heliac in her maiden last October, a horse that won a Listed race last month, and Lightning Amber has only been seen twice since including on her reappearance at this track three weeks ago where she shaped well.
Checked early that day, she didn’t get much of a run but ran on well enough under a considerate ride and that should have put her straight for today.
The drop down in trip is not sure to suit and perhaps Galway is on the agenda further down the line, but she does seem to have a good cruising speed and might get away with seven with that in mind.
There’s enough there for an each-way bet and, considering the owners, it’s telling she’s kept in training at four with a possible bid for black type in mind at some point, potentially.
