2.10 Tipperary – Bahlwan

Denis Hogan runs three in this race and they’ve all been in good form, but Bahlwan is dropping down in grade and looks the one to be on. He ran a good third behind Strong Johnson at the Curragh last Saturday and he drops into a 0-65 on Friday. Five furlongs suits him well and he’s an each-way bet at 6/1 getting four places.

4.30 Tipperary – Ubume

I like this Ruler Of The World filly and she makes her handicap debut at Tipperary for Joseph O’Brien. Off 69 she makes appeal as she caught the eye a couple of times at Dundalk and she ran perfectly respectably at Gowran a week ago. She’s crying out for a step up in trip and big improvement is expected now handicapping up in distance.

4.15 Gowran Park – Pyramid Rock

Roca Roma was due to run in the Irish 1000 Guineas and she comes to this maiden instead so she’s obviously respected, but at the prices Pyramid Rock rates the better value here. She’s got just under five lengths to make up on Roca Roma on their running at Leopardstown in a hot maiden last October, but she came home pleasingly and looking at the draw on Friday I’d rather be breaking from stall one than 18 and that tips the balance in favour of Jessica Harrington’s filly.

7.45 Gowran Park – Protagonist

Elfin Queen looks the one to beat in the feature race at 7.15 but she’s short enough and for the final bet of the day I’d rather be on Protagonist in the finale. This is another one for Harrington and he’s been gelded since we last saw him and that should help this son of Wootton Bassett. His form with Jamie Osborne has worked out well, particularly his Ffos Las form, and on bits and pieces of evidence he’s well treated off 76 for his new yard.
