Fran Berry has three Dundalk selections this afternoon including Whatharm who looks poised to strike back at the all-weather track.
EDIYVA should take quite a bit of beating on the Polytrack in the Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Available Online Apprentice Maiden.
She's very interesting here as her dam Emiyna - who I rode - was a winner at Dundalk. This filly should improve for the surface and I expect her to improve with the Mick Halford team in better form generally now.
Her run behind Haifa when last seen at Tipperary, in the context of this race, is good. The fourth from that race, Fastnet Crown, won at Dundalk last Friday night and despite having a wide draw in stall 12, Ediyva doesn't lack pace while her main market rivals are actually posted even wider.
In the next race - the Follow Us On Twitter @dundalkstadium Handicap - I'm keen on the top weight WHATHARM. One of the likely favourites for this, Shawaf, is a non-runner which was a key pace angle to the race but Whatharm is tactically adaptable and he made an eyecatching return on the turf at the Curragh last month.
His profile is quite similar to last year in that he ran on the grass in mid-October before winning twice here and I can see something similar unfolding. The stable hasn't had a winner yet this year but have recently had a couple run well in defeat so I'll chance my arm from a good draw in stall four.
The other one I fancy is ROYAL HIGHNESS in the opening Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Claiming Race. She's been backed but is worth a win bet at the general 5/1. She's only ever won once but that was at Dundalk and her overall track record is excellent.
She's been slow from the gates on her last two starts but did run respectably last time and hopefully Billy Lee - who won on her last year - can spark her into life at the start. If she gets out and gets a pitch then I think she'll win.
