Today’s main selection was going to be Simply True in the last but he was scratched this morning unfortunately.

I doubt it was down to the ground as he loves testing conditions and heavy rain over here means the ground is turning on the soft side at Roscommon.

It’s with hope the ground isn’t too much of an inconvenience for ISOTOPE (7/2 General) in the Property Partners Earley Apprentice Handicap at 3.00.

He’s ridden by promising claimer Mikey Sheehy and there was lots to like about his last run at the Curragh where he was third of 18.

Held up in the rear that day, he made up good headway through the field and just got ran out of it late on.

Perhaps the 1m4f trip just caught him out, with that run in mind I certainly like him dropping back to 10 furlongs today and on the back of that run he should take a bit of beating.

Like I said, the ground is the question mark, but he’s unproven either way and I’m prepared to risk so taking was his last run.

Finally in the Listed Lenebane Stakes I have a bit of a hail Mary selection in the form of LADY STORMBORN at 40/1 (Coral 1/5 1,2,3).

There are a few non-runners in here in Fresnel and Heliac due to the ground and with forecast rain throughout the day it could be very soft by the time of the card’s feature.

With the exception of Helvic Dream, a lot of them have questions marks on such ground and with that in mind Lady Stormborn is overpriced considering the potential conditions.

She made a good debut at this track first time out last year and, although she wasn’t as good at Listowel, she went on to win a heavy ground maiden at Leopardstown by 14 lengths over a mile and a quarter last October.

After that she turned out quickly and didn’t back that effort up in a Listed race at Naas, so I’m prepared to forgive her that and she looks interesting fresh here.

She’s a very well-bred daughter of Camelot that could even improve for the step up in trip to 1m4f, and now conditions are turning in her favour she’s worth backing each-way at a huge price.
