Fran Berry looks ahead to the action from the Curragh this afternoon and has an each-way selection in the opening race as he bids to follow up yesterday's winner.
We've a good-quality Friday afternoon card at the Curragh but picking winners isn't going to be particularly easy so I'll be keeping stakes to a minimum in truth.
The best bet of the day might come up the opening seven furlong maiden at 1.00, where Charterhouse is probably a worthy favourite based on his two runs today.
He drops back into maiden company having not been beaten too far in a Group Three at Leopardstown. However, FEELING TIP TOP was second to Thunder Moon a little over two weeks ago in a barrier trial where the two of them were well clear of the third.
Thunder Moon won his maiden impressively at the Curragh last Sunday so it could be worth following. All the barrier trials information can be found on Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and I'd urge people to have a glance.
Given that line of form - and there wasn't much between the pair - on top of the form of Jessica Harrington's yard in general, he ticks a lot of boxes.
He certainly looks the one who could pose the favourite most problems, following the defection of Trusted Ally.
If you're prepared to take a little fine on the odds if he's placed then I'd recommended an each-way bet on him at 9/2 (bet365 1/5 1,2,3).
As for the rest of the card, I thought Frenetic might be opposable in the Listed sprint for two-year-olds after showing a little bit of temperament and flashing her tail again in defeat last time. But Chief Little Hawk doesn't totally rock my world either so it's a race I can sit out.
Search For A Song looks a worthy favourite in the Irish St Leger Trial, while the Royal Whip looks a watching brief too with Armory taking on Leo De Fury.
I was looking to initially take on Gold Maze with Vultan in the 10-furlong maiden, but Joseph O'Brien's horse was a late non-runner this morning so perhaps Gauntlet is the one to be on.
I put up Treble Cone last time he ran and I'll have half an eye on him in the apprentice handicap later on the card too but Feeling Tip Top will do for me so hopefully he can get the meeting off to a flying start.
