Fran Berry has three selections for this evening's card at Dundalk including one for Kevin Prendergast who has a fine record at the track this year.
I’m at Dundalk for Racing TV tonight and it looks very competitive but I’ve got three bets starting with ALL ABOUT IVY in the Hollywoodbets Handicap at 5.00.
This time last year she shaped nicely in a Dundalk maiden, only beaten four and a half lengths, and she’s been running well on the turf this summer.
After a break she switched from Ken Condon’s to Mick Halford’s and returned to the track at Navan last time where she was only headed close home after running a cracker.
On that evidence she can take advantage of a mark of 51 sooner rather than later and she’s got a nice draw in stall eight dropping into a 0-65 handicap tonight.
Sky Bet are going 17/2 and are offering four places so she’s worth an each-way bet with those terms.
In division one of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Maiden NAWAFETH is worth a win only bet at 6/1 for Kevin Prendergast.
She has been weak in the market this morning, but I’m prepared to chance this The Factor filly on her all-weather debut.
That sire’s progeny go well on the Kempton polytrack (four winners at 20 per cent) and she looks the type that will improve for the surface switch to me.
Her best run came at Killarney where she shaped well for a long way in very soft ground and my only worry is that her last two runs in testing conditions may have left a mark on her.
Hopefully that’s not the case and the Prendergast stable has been flying at Dundalk this year, having had eight winners from 21 runners at 38.1%.
Finally, back TARTLETTE in the closing Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Buy Online Handicap.
This is a cracking race but Shane Crawley’s filly can reverse the form with the likely favourite, Paso Doble, who finished in third two places ahead of her last time out over the course and distance.
She was fresh and keen in that race two weeks ago, trapped wide throughout, and she only has just over a length to make up on Jim Bolger’s colt with a nicer draw this evening.
Twice a course winner, she looks likely to make a bold bid with that recent run under her belt and the 13/2, four places with Sky Bet, is worth snapping up each-way.
