I’ve two bets at Leopardstown today on a good card and the best wager is CARLISLE BAY in the feature Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes at 3.39.

The son of Galileo was a ready winner of a nine-furlong maiden at Tipperary on Arc weekend and I loved the way he extended in the last furlong to win by two lengths.

That race often throws up a good horse, Leading Light won it a few years ago, and Carlisle Bay was very impressive on his racecourse bow and any improvement will see him difficult to beat this afternoon.

Crucially, his opposition look moderate and exposed. He has to find more to beat the best of them, but I’d be disappointed if he can’t as he looks the class act to my eyes and the general 2/1 is very fair.

Half an hour later Helvic Dream is likely to be a warm order in the Listed Trigo Stakes after demolishing them by over seven lengths in the Novi IT Services International Stakes at the Curragh.

That was some effort in a Group 3 and RAISE YOU was 12 lengths behind, but at 16/1 with the four places this afternoon I like Joseph O’Brien’s horse against him.

I realise he’s up against it to reverse that form, but I don’t agree with the price discrepancy as he travelled really well up to the two-furlong pole on what was just his second start for his new yard.

It was a big step forward from his stable debut and I expect another one here, a scenario which could see him give Helvic Dream much more of a race this time.

On his best form for Andrew Balding he wasn’t beaten far by Addeybb and while his Irish form wouldn’t be at that level yet, he’s getting there.

He just got tired very late on at the Curragh and I like the quick turnaround here, I’d expect him to strip fitter for that good run and 16s looks a big price with four places available at Sky Bet and Paddy Power.
