Hamish, ante-post favourite for the Sky Bet Ebor, will miss the York feature – and the rest of the season – after suffering a setback.
William Haggas’ charge was guaranteed a place in the field at the Knavesmire having won last year’s Sky Bet Melrose but now connections are having to turn their thoughts to the 2021 renewal.
“He had an injury after Ascot and is out for the season. We’re hoping very much he’s able to come back next year,” the trainer said.
“Because he’d won the Melrose and it was an automatic qualification for the Ebor his whole season was geared around York. He ran a very nice race in the Hardwicke and it’s a shame but these things happen.
“Lots of worse things have happened this year but hopefully he’ll be back for a crack in 2021.”
