Recently retired Flat jockey Steve Drowne is to become a stipendiary steward, the British Horseracing Authority has announced.
Drowne, who went out on a winner at Lingfield on Sunday, will begin his training on January 8.
A Group One-winning rider, he served as joint-president of the Professional Jockeys Association for the last 10 years.
Drowne said: "I'm delighted to accept the position of stipendiary steward after spending 27 years as a jockey.
"I was very keen to use that experience in another sphere of the racing industry and have a second career rather than just a second job."
