Our columnist looks ahead to L'Ami Serge and Sceau Royal heading to big race targets at Doncaster on Saturday.
L’Ami Serge is in good form ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster.
I schooled him over 10 fences on Thursday at Nicky Henderson’s and he feels in really, really good nick, he jumped very well.
His confidence is sky-high after running over hurdles and I’m really encouraged by how he felt and schooled. He looks great too. His skin is in excellent condition.
The ground at Doncaster should be drier than elsewhere and I think the race will really suit him. They go a good gallop and he can just mosey away and work his way into it.
Sceau Royal runs in the Napoleons Casino & Restaurant Owlerton Sheffield Lightning Novices' Chase.
I schooled him at Alan King’s on Monday morning after he'd done a really good piece of work on Saturday. He jumped very well and is full of himself. He’s one I’m really looking forward to seeing back in action.
He's very good. He was a talented hurdler but has improved again for going over a fence. I'm excited about him – not only for this season but the years ahead.
With the likes of Bristol De Mai and Wholestone potentially in action at Cheltenham it promises to be a great weekend and I'll be back with all my thoughts in Friday's column.
