Catching Pigeons column with all the weekend gossip and selections

Our popular column returns with all of the gossip from the major training centres ahead of Saturday's top-class action.

The Coral-Eclipse is the feature race on Saturday and while Cliffs Of Moher and Barney Roy have been dominating the column inches in the build-up - expect a big run from Eminent.

He's been full of beans since finishing fourth in the Investec Derby, just less than a length adrift of Cliffs Of Moher, and looks to have come forward from Epsom. This 10 furlongs could well prove his optimum trip too.

Greenside is doing his best to become a course specialist at Sandown this season and should underline the point with victory in the Coral Challenge Handicap at the Esher track.

Henry Candy had his share of setbacks with the lightly raced six year old in his formative years, but there seemed to be plenty to look forward to after he won his final start last season at Newmarket, and he has followed through on his two outings at this venue this term.

Although beaten by the well regarded Laidback Romeo on his comeback, he was badly drawn and took revenge on his Lambourn rival from a much more advantageous stall number three weeks ago.

He appeared to prevail with more than a little in hand, and hopes are high that he can follow up, though we can also pass on a strong message for Sir Michael Stoute's El Hayem, who sunk in the mud last time but continues to work like a good horse on the Heath. Ryan Moore got off Greenside to stay loyal to the Stoute representative.

Queen Of Time, stablemate of Greenside, looks held by Paco's Angel on their running in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot, but our selection did not enjoy a trouble free run during the race, and could prove the each-way value in the Listed Coral Distaff.

She is another Kingstone Warren inmate to have progressed from last season and the Candy man is sweet on the belief that she can continue on her upward curve.

Tis Marvellous can notch his first success of the season in the Group Three Coral Charge

This is an interesting class between the three-year-old sprinters and the older generation, and Clive Cox will be hoping last season's Prix Robert Papin winner can uphold the Commonrealth Cup form from Royal Ascot just over two weeks ago.

Tis Marvellous ran well to finish sixth behind Caravaggio and stablemate Harry Angel, and he should be even more at home on this return to five furlongs. This looks a much less daunting race, and he has a reasonable draw.

High Jinx is a proven high class stayer and he ran a cracker when beaten just two necks by Dartmouth in the Yorkshire Cup following a long lay-off 50 days ago.

He looks to have found the ideal confidence booster in the listed Coral Marathon, and is fancied to see off Queen Alexandra winner Oriental Fox, and Hughie Morrison's popular long distance expert Nearly Caught.

The Queen may have drawn a blank at Royal Ascot but has plenty of promising horses for the summer ahead and one of them - Frontispiece - should win the closing Download The Coral App Handicap for Sir Michael Stoute.

In time, Frontispiece has the scope to prove better than a handicapper and despite matching Her Majesty's lack of success at Royal Ascot, Stoute's team remain in overall good health.

Brorocco can gain a deserved return to winning form in the bet365 Old Newton Cup at Haydock.

Andrew Balding will be pleased his progressive four-year-old has snuck into this competitive handicap, and will be hoping he can enjoy better luck in running than at Epsom on Oaks Day when he might well have won a similar event to this with a clear run in the closing stages.

His form throughout the first half of the season is high grade, and he has enjoyed a nice break since his Epsom exertions.

William Haggas saddles two unexposed types in Humble Hero and Across Dubai in the bet365 Handicap and the closing Cash Out at Bet365 Handicap at the Lancashire course and both should run big races.

The pair are having their stamina tested over their respective distances of a mile and six and 10 furlongs for the first time and both should show their appreciation with big performances under Pat Cosgrave.

No stable in Newmarket is in better form than Haggas's at present and the trainer is likely to have winners elsewhere too with Mojito fancied to take the opening coral.co.uk Handicap at Sandown.

Kevin Ryan is firmly back among the winners after a tortuous time with a serious illness in the yard, and he can strike with Savalas in the Pallet Racking Maiden Stakes (Div I) at Beverley.

A promising fifth on his debut at the York May meeting, the form of the race has worked out pretty well with both the winner and the fourth running well in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot. Plenty of improvement is anticipated.

The Jean Genie showed a good level of ability of her only run as a juvenile and she can build on her two outings so far this season in the EBF Stallions Tapnshower.com Handicap at Leicester.

Although she was never able to get into the race at Salisbury on her latest start, it was a decent effort against some well regarded types. This marks her first appearance in a handicap and she should be sharper for what looks a decent opportunity.

Light Of Joy, one of a small handful of runners with a chance on the day for David Lanigan, rates the danger.
