Caravaggio ran out a facile winner of the EMS Copiers Lacken Stakes at Naas to maintain his unbeaten record.
Aidan O'Brien's three-year-old was unbeaten in four starts as a juvenile and had little difficulty in extending that sequence, despite carrying a penalty in the Group Three.
Held-up towards the rear of the six strong field in the early stages, jockey Ryan Moore asked for an effort fully two furlongs from home.
The response was not instantaneous but the son of Scat Daddy gradually found his stride and quickened right away from the field inside the final furlong to record an impressive success.
It was Caravaggio's first start in 287 days and Sky Bet cut him to 7/4 favourite from 3/1 for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot following his four and three-quarter lengths defeat of Psychedelic Funk.
Sky Bet's Racing PR Manager Michael Shinners said: "He was an outstanding juvenile who produced a stunning display to win the Coventry Stakes last season.
"It would be no surprise to see him claim a second Royal Ascot success in the Commonwealth Cup next month where he's clearly the one to beat. He's our 7/4 favourite from 3/1 and could easily develop into the best sprinter that Aidan O'Brien has handled since the likes of Stravinsky and Mozart."
O'Brien said of Caravaggio, who was sticking at sprint trips rather than trying a mile in a 2000 Guineas: "He's an unbelievably quick horse.
"We said that we would come here and if everything went well we would go to Ascot for the Commonwealth Cup.
"I've never seen a quicker horse and that's why we went this way with him. He's showed nothing to say he wouldn't get a mile.
"We worked him seven furlongs and the petrol gauge never shifted, but I was afraid that he was so quick that it would be the wrong thing to do.
"We could train him for a mile and go back, but we didn't want to lose the brilliance.
"He was carrying plenty and was a good bit above what he was last year. A long way above. You couldn't be happier."
Sky Bet also make Caravaggio 7/2 (from 7s) for the July Cup at Newmarket and 8/1 (from 14s) for the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot where he would have to take on his elders.
