CAPTAIN BOB had been knocking on the door for a while and finally got his head in front last time out to end a long losing run. He forced a real hard pace that day and did well to see off his rivals. That success must have done his confidence a world of good and he could take some passing again with Jim Crowley on board and just a 2lb rise in the weights to contend with.

Eight Til Late is a consistent sort and is off a winnable mark in this race. There is no reason why he won't go close again. Valgor Du Ronceray hasn't run at all badly in maiden hurdles of late and could be prove hard to beat if improving for fences. A horse who caught my eye as a specimen last year was DEFINITE INCOME, she's a real good-looking mare and impressed with her win at Punchestown in October. That run is good enough to be competitive today and I thought she would really kick on after that outing. She was then thrown in at the deep end in a Listed Hurdle but was out of her depth in that contest and was pulled up. Physically I've always thought she is a chaser in her make-up and connections decided to go down that route in her next couple of starts. Both races were run in testing going against much better opposition then she faces today. She was held up and never got competitive in those contests but they were nice educational runs. She's been given six months off and there is every chance she has improved physically during that time and filled out a bit. The trip may be on the sharp side and there is every chance she will come on for the run but I still think she represents value at 16/1 in a race that won't take much winning.
