Breaking It Down: Murt Khan’s horse racing tips for Saturday

Owner and pro punter Murt Khan has a couple of tips to back in the meeting at Beverley today.

Recommended Bets: Breaking It Down

1.5pts win Altharoos to win in 4.25 Beverley at 5/2 - appears ready to strike for his new yard

1pt win Jan De Heem to win in 4.25 Beverley at 11/1 - price too big for a step up in trip

The pace in this race, the 4.25 at Beverley, is likely to come from the free-going Miningrocks, a horse that isn't the easiest ride in the world and he did well to win last time.

If he gets an easy time at the front end, he will be hard to beat, but this is his third run in two weeks and his highly-strung nature means I'm willing to take him on at 7/4.

On top of this I'm hoping the likes of Hernandoshideaway and Perceived will be on Miningrocks' tail so the race is run at a respectable pace.

ALTHAROOS has steadily dropped down in the weights and looks ready to strike for his new yard. He ran on well last time on debut for Micky Hammond at Beverley over a mile and being a winner over today's trip, as well as winning off much higher marks in the past, means he should go very close.

JAN DE HEEM is overpriced for me at 10/1.

He caught the eye travelling really well last time when not getting much luck in-running before flattening out at the back end of the race.

He takes a big step down in trip today which could well suit and it's also encouraging he is a course and distance winner.
