5.10 Market Rasen preview
Olly Murphy launched his career with a well-backed winner in Dove Mountain at Brighton on Tuesday and could add to that tally with BANFF in the Manny Bernstein Handicap Hurdle which brings today's Market Rasen meeting to a close.
The horse was a consistent performer on the Flat in Ireland for John Joseph Murphy before joining Anabel Murphy, who also trained Dove Mountain before he was switched to her son's yard.
It seemed a matter of just getting the horse some experience of racing in Britain and qualified for handicaps as he had three pretty quick runs on slow ground during January and February.
The four-year-old has been given an initial mark of 100 and looks fairly treated under leading lady rider Gina Andrews.
It could also be worth noting that he has another entry on Tuesday at Uttoxeter, opening up the possibility of connections attempting to land a quick double with the horse in the space of three days.
The Murphy stable is also represented in the extended two mile contest by Gold Class, who remains a long-time maiden but could also be open to a little bit of improvement.
The solid types in this grade are My Renaissance, Jackthejourneyman and Magnolia Ridge.
However, they are all vulnerable to a horse who could be a few pounds ahead of the handicapper and that horse might be Banff who looks worth a small play at 11/2.
