Free agent running-back Jamaal Charles has signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos.
The 30-year-old is staying in the AFC West, having spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
His last two seasons with the Chiefs were wrecked by injury, with Charles having played in only eight games since the end of the 2014 campaign.
That season saw him pass 1,000 yards rushing for the fifth time, although his reported $3.75m with the Broncos is not expected to see him become their lead back.
He will compete with projected No 1 CJ Anderson and second-year player Devontae Booker for carries in what could be a productive backfield.
Charles has twice had seasons cut short by torn anterior cruciate ligaments and another knee injury last season limited him to only 12 carries.
He was disappointed to be released by the Chiefs, but said: "It's behind me now. I really don't even want to talk about that.
"I love the organization and love the team. At the end of the day, it's a business, but it's also personal as well. It is what it is."
At the end of the day, they let me go and I'm not there. I'm starting a new chapter, and I'm happy with my new chapter, really."
