A cancer-stricken boy in Texas could have his wish of meeting Odell Beckham Jr realised after the NFL wide receiver responded to a social media plea.
New York Giants fan Jayro Ponce is currently receiving treatment in Amarillo for a rare form of cancer that he was diagnosed with in December.
A campaign for Beckham to meet Jayro was posted on the Facebook page of Amarillo DJ Tommy Joe, with the note saying the Giants wide-out was a "hero" to Jayro and pleading for Beckham to get in touch and "fulfill (sic) one of his dreams".
This was passed on to the 24-year-old on Twitter via Danny Richburg, the father of Beckham's Giants team-mate Weston, who posted a screengrab of the Facebook post with: "@OBJ_3 time is of the essence. Weston has our number. We will find the $ to pay the jet fuel".
Beckham, who has over 2.5million Twitter followers, then responded by quoting the tweet and writing: "How could I make it happen?", with Danny Richburg replying asking him to call him.
Jayro is said to have been in awe of Beckham and the Giants ever since he saw the receiver make his stupendous one-handed catch against the Cowboys as a rookie in 2014.
His Giants colleague Weston Richburg is a native of Texas and met Jayro back in April.
