There are five open races for punters to solve at Hove this evening and Droopys Rosie (T1) is fancied to supplement her recent powerful victory in the Coral 500 Standard Trophy final at 8.24.

Maxine Locke's bitch gained just rewards for some consistent performances when showing fine back-straight speed to draw away for a convincing 29.14 (+20) success last time. The make-up of this contest suggests that she could have the rails all to herself, and she can outpoint this field if getting on the bunny.

Droopys Pivotal (T2) has plied his trade at the top table this season, notably when not beaten far by the classy Churchfield Syd in the Derby semi-finals in June. The Romford raider has endured mixed fortunes since that creditable run and, if fit enough returning from a two-month lay-off, heat one of the Coral Dual Distance Trophy at 7.16 is well within his compass.

After missing a beat at the get-go, Join In (T2) put in some sterling late work to be just held by the reopposing Harlequin Money in last week's heats. She has been handed the blue jacket again in the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy final at 8.07 and can give another good account if turning off the second bend in a good pitch.

11 open races are on the menu from Hove this evening and it could pay to keep on the right side of Bockos Wazza (T6) in the Coral 515 Maiden Trophy final at 8.07.

This Irish recruit has been highly tried without cutting any ice since arriving on these shores, but Tony Taylor's charge finally got off the mark with a workmanlike success in the calmer waters of last week's heats with a 30.05 (+40) run. This imposing individual soon took control from a wide draw and, although he has something to find on the clock with a few of these, he could well be up to the task.

Fantasy Alex (T2) displayed lots of early speed to lead over 500m on his UK competitive debut over last month, but a lack of a recent outing might have taken its toll from the halfway stage. This August '22 youngster appears the type who could benefit from a switch to sprinting, and a 16.52 (+15) trial spin puts him firmly in the picture for the 285 Maiden Sprint at 6.26.

2023 Sussex Cup hero Candolim Monsoon (T4) was in a league of his own when lowering the 500m track record in a 28.69 (+40) demolition last week. He is up against some early-paced rivals in the 8.41 and cannot afford to give them any leeway from the outset, but this wily veteran seems to know where the winning line is around this circuit.
