In the absence of any open racing the focus is shifted to this afternoon's all-graded action at Romford, and Droopys Swanky (T6) makes plenty of appeal in the A2 at 2.23.

This September '21 bitch did nothing wrong in her comeback run last week following a spell on the sidelines, as she was always prominent in a solid third-placed effort, recording a fair 24.41 (calculated) clock. She should now strip much fitter and all the signs are that a big run is on the cards.

Hot Rod (T6) has not been the slickest from the get-go in open-race company lately, but showed what he can achieve when getting his act together with a trap-to-line 23.82 victory on 26 July. The A1 at 2.41 appears to be his easiest opportunity for a while and he will be a force to be reckoned with if regaining his trapping boots.

In the S2 at 4.16, Annadown Paddy (T4) has struggled to make any impact at A1 level over 400m and failed to land a blow when upped to six bends in S1 last week. The one positive from that run was an eye-catching 13.86 split time, and Dave Mullins' inmate could well take charge in the early exchanges as there is not a lot of early pace on offer.
