Scott Stallings became the second player of the week to card a round of 60 as he took the lead at the Barbasol Championship in Alabama.
Twenty four hours after Chad Collins produced a round to remember, the fellow American followed suit to surge to the top of the leaderboard at 19 under.
Stallings sank 10 birdies and an eagle, with just one bogey, to climb through the field.
He leads Grayson Murray by a shot, with Tag Ridings and Collins one further back on 17 under.
Chad Collins fired a stunning round of 60 to surge into a four-shot lead at the Barbasol Championship in Alabama.
The 38-year-old American, yet to win a PGA Tour title, was unstoppable as he went round in 11 under par to take his place at the summit at the halfway point.
A birdie at the opening hole set the tone as he went out in 30 before sinking six successive birdies on the back nine in his blemish-free round.
If he had been able to force one more birdie in the final two holes he would have become the 10th person to card a sub-60 round in PGA Tour history.
He is four shots clear of Grayson Murray, who went round in 64, and joint first-round leader Cameron Tringale are a shot back on 11 under.
Brian Gay and David Hearn are on 10 under and another joint first-round leader Martin Flores is one of five men on nine under.
Martin Flores, Cameron Tringale and Zac Blair share the lead after the opening round of the Barbasol Championship in Alabama.
With the big names on the PGA Tour competing in the Open, the American trio head a depleted field after they carded six-under-par 65s.
Flores fired six birdies, Tringale sank seven, with one bogey at the 11th, and Blair had four one-unders and an eagle.
There is a five-man group a shot behind on five under, including Chad Campbell and Robert Allenby.
Richy Werenski is also on five under and has two holes of his round to play on Friday after darkness brought an end to play before he could finish, with a host of other players also unable to complete 18 holes.
Jim Furyk and KJ Choi - the two highest-profile players in action - are both on two under.
