Day four report

Jason Dufner took advantage of a poor final round from Daniel Summerhays to win the Memorial Tournament.

Summerhays took a three-shot lead into the final round at Ohio and was well placed to claim his first PGA Tour title.

However, the 33-year-old from Utah wilted as former US PGA champion Dufner hit back from a third round 77 to land a fifth PGA Tour title.

Dufner's final round 68 contained seven birdies and three bogeys and left him on 13 under par, three shots clear of Anirban Lahiri and Rickie Fowler.

Summerhays, third in last year's PGA Championship, saw his hopes end with a 78 which included four bogeys and a double bogey. The two dropped shots at the final hole cost him a share of fourth place with Matt Kuchar and Justin Thomas and left him tied for 10th.

India's Lahiri forced his way onto a leaderboard dominated by players from the United States with a final round 65 which contained no dropped shots.

Fowler was in contention but, after four birdies, his challenge ended with bogeys on the 14th and 18th as he signed for a 70.

Sweden's David Lingmerth and Ireland's Shane Lowry were the best-placed Europeans, final rounds of 73 earning them a share of 15th on five under.

Defending champion William McGirt had a final round to forget - an 83 which saw him finish 21 shots off the pace on eight over.

Day three report

Daniel Summerhays is on target to claim his first PGA Tour title as he takes a three-shot lead into the final round at the Memorial Tournament after carding 68 in Ohio on Saturday.

The 33-year-old from Utah, who finished third in last year's PGA Championship, trailed midway leader Jason Dufner by five shots overnight but five birdies - and a bogey on the 13th - saw him move into the outright lead on 13 under par ahead of 2013 winner Matt Kuchar.

Kuchar, moved up to second thanks to a round of 67 that included six birdies and one bogey for the joint-second lowest score of the day on 10 under. Compatriot James Hahn won that prize by two shots as his 65 - which included an impressive 10 birdies and three bogeys - moved him into a share of 14th on five under par.

Dufner dropped down to a three-way tie for third after a poor round of 77 with six bogeys and a double bogey on the 11th hole, which undid the good work of birdies on the seventh, 15th and 17th.

The former US PGA champion, seeking a fifth PGA Tour title, sits alongside Bubba Watson (68) and Justin Thomas (69).

Rickie Fowler (72) and Jamie Lovemark (70) are a shot further back in joint sixth, with Kevin Streelman, Kevin Kisner and Jordan Spieth completing the top 10 - the trio in a tie for eighth on seven under.

Ireland's Shane Lowry is the highest-placed European on the leaderboard following a third-round 70, including six birdies and four bogeys. He moves into a three-way tie for 11th on six under.

Defending champion William McGirt followed rounds of 71 and 72 with a 70 which leaves him on three under, 10 shots off the pace.

Day two report

Jason Dufner moved five shots clear of the field in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village on Friday.

The former US PGA champion, seeking a fifth PGA Tour title, produced a second successive round of 65 to take control of the Ohio event on 14 under par.

The 40-year-old from Cleveland managed five birdies before an eagle at the 18th further stretched his lead over Daniel Summerhays, who had six birdies and three bogeys in a round of 69 which left him on nine under.

Rickie Fowler is a further shot back after a round of 66, with Jamie Lovemark (69), Jordan Spieth (72) and Justin Thomas (71) all six under on a leaderboard dominated by players from the United States.

Scotland's Martin Laird is the best-placed European, nine shots off the pace in seventh after a second round 68 containing five birdies and a bogey.

Overnight leader David Lingmerth is alongside Laird after the Swede slipped off the pace with a 74. Matt Kuchar (70), Bubba Watson (68), Kevin Kisner (69) and Argentina's Emiliano Grillo (68) are also on five under.

Defending champion William McGirt followed his opening round 71 with a 72 which leaves him on one under, 13 shots off the pace.

World number one Dustin Johnson missed the cut after following his opening round six-over 78 with a 74, while England's Luke Donald, Tommy Fleetwood and Scott Gregory will also not be taking part in the final two rounds.

Day one report

Former US PGA champion Dufner fired six birdies and an eagle to leave himself one shot clear of Sweden's David Lingmerth heading to the 18th hole.

But his first bogey of the day on the par-four last saw him post a seven-under 65.

Jordan Spieth and Daniel Summerhays are a shot further back on six under but defending champion William McGirt is off the pace after carding a 71.

World number one Dustin Johnson faces a battle to make the cut after failing to make a birdie in his six-over 78.

After Lingmerth had set the pace in Ohio with eight birdies and an eagle in his 65, Dufner launched his bid for a fifth PGA Tour title by covering the front nine in 31.

Further birdies on the 11th, 14th and 15th left Dufner on eight under but he was unable to complete a flawless round.

Spieth, one of six top-10 players in action at Muirfield Village, enjoyed another encouraging day after returning to form in his home state of Texas last week.

It would have been an even better round for the world number six had he not bogeyed the final two holes.

Scots Martin Laird and Russell Knox will begin Friday's second round on one under, alongside Ireland's Padraig Harrington.

England's Luke Donald had to settle for even par after carding four birdies and four bogeys in his 72.
