Our F1 Insider fancies Sebastian Vettel for glory when Formula 1 heads to Belgium this weekend...
Sebastian Vettel to win the race
Vettel dominated this race 12 months ago to such an extent that in the aftermath he was favoured by the bookmakers to win the world championship despite facing a 17-point title deficit to Lewis Hamilton. The fact he hasn't won a race since that day underlines how catastrophically the German's 2018 season, and arguably his Ferrari career, has since unravelled. Vettel had unequivocally the fastest car at Spa last year but despite his rotten form since, he could get a chance to once again show his class in the most powerful car on the grid this weekend. He's close to 3/1 to add to his three victories in the Ardennes, which looks a fair bet given the performance of Ferrari's power unit.
Kimi Raikkonen to finish in the top 6
Raikkonen's course record at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit is up with the greats. He won the Belgian Grand Prix the first time he finished the race there for McLaren in 2004, and repeated the feat with the Woking constructor the following year. More success followed with Ferrari in 2007 but his victory for the Scuderia in 2009 was arguably even more impressive, it being the only win the recalcitrant F60 took all season. That final tenth of Raikkonen in his pomp has now disappeared but his 2019 results for Alfa Romeo in midfield show that the Finn is still one of the most reliable performers out there. He's yet to finish in the top six this season but has three seventh places to his name and looks worth backing to go one better on his favourite track.
