Gary Neville described the apparent confusion over the missed penalty that cost Manchester United three points against Wolves as "embarrassing" - but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford.
Pogba saw his second half spot-kick saved by Patricio after an apparent debate with Rashford - the scorer from the spot against Chelsea a week earlier - over who should step up to take it.
The Frenchman has now missed four penalties since the start of last season which is more than any other player in the Premier League and former United defender Neville was far from impressed.
He told Sky Sports: "A few years ago when Morales took a penalty off Baines for Everton I called it a despicable act. It's treachery in football terms taking a penalty off a team-mate. Initially I was fuming with Pogba. I thought typical you, you're selfish, why are you even thinking of taking a penalty off a player?
"However I've looked back at footage of last week and Pogba and Rashford had a long chat. I'm not sure if Rashford took that one off Pogba. They had a long chat again tonight and I don't like it. Why is there a debate on who takes a penalty? There should never be a debate.
"Paul Pogba has missed four at the club in the last four months so you'd think he's had his chance. Rashford scored last week so take it! But there wasn't a leader. James was there, Martial was there - they couldn't make a decision between them. It's weird, something's not right and only Solskjaer can shed light on it."

😡 And Gary Neville questions why he even took it instead of Marcus Rashford! #MUFC pic.twitter.com/E8ROAQD6yR
He added: "They should decide in the dressing room who is the penalty taker - it's embarrassing.
"This is a Manchester United penalty, this not a tombola, this is not under-fives on the school field.
"Rashford scored last week - take the penalty. But there wasn't a leader out there. Something wasn't right."
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dismissed the penalty confusion, insisting both Pogba and Rashford are designated to take spot-kicks for the club.
Solskjaer said: "The two of them are designated the penalty shooters and it's up to them there and then who feels 'this is mine'.
"Sometimes players just feel they are confident enough to score - Paul has scored so many penalties for us and today Rui Patricio made a good save.
"The two of them have been very confident. I like players with confidence and the feeling that 'I can do this'."
🤨 Needless to say, Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer stuck up for both Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford over #MUFC's penalty farce.

Rashford added: "Paul wanted to take it - it's that simple. Everybody can miss a penalty. He's scored countless penalties for us so it's normal to miss one.
"I took one last week so for me it's no problem for him to take one this week. It's unfortunate he didn't score but it's not on him, it's as a team and we take it forward to the next game."

Solskjaer also refused to rule out forward Alexis Sanchez, who has been linked to Inter Milan, leaving the club before the close of the European transfer window.
When asked if there was any news, the United boss said: "Not really, let's see what happens in the coming weeks. There are a few weeks for international transfers to go through but at the moment he's our player."
In his press conference, Solskjaer added on Sanchez: "Well, there's still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window and there is a chance. Some clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we'll see what happens.
"I can't update you more than that."
