  • Liverpool have won 25 of their last 30 matches in all competitions (W25 D3 L2), with that run including seven victories in the Champions League.
  • Genk have now played more matches than any other team in the history of the European Cup/Champions League without winning a game (15 – W0 D8 L7).
  • Liverpool became the fourth English team to score 200 goals in the Champions League, after Arsenal (281), Chelsea (269) and Manchester United (373).
  • This was the second consecutive Champions League match in which a Liverpool player assisted a goal on his birthday – Roberto Firmino did so against FC Red Bull Salzburg and Fabinho tonight against Genk.
  • Genk conceded more than once in a home Champions League game for the first time, with this only their second home defeat in the competition (also 1-0 against Roma in October 2002).
  • Four of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s seven goals for Liverpool in all competitions have been scored from outside the box.
  • Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has more assists in the Champions League than any other player (11).

  • Chelsea have registered back-to-back away Champions League victories for the first time since October 2013.
  • Ajax suffered their first Champions League group stage defeat since November 2014, ending a run of nine matches unbeaten at this stage.
  • Chelsea have kept consecutive clean sheets in all competitions under Frank Lampard for the first time.
  • Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Michy Batshuayi has scored nine goals as a substitute for Chelsea in all competitions – four more than any other Blues player.
  • Despite only appearing as a 71st minute substitute, Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi had more shots than any other player in the match (4), including scoring the winning goal.
  • Callum Hudson-Odoi (18y 350d) became the youngest player to start a Champions League game for Chelsea since Josh McEachran (17y 282d) in December 2010.

Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 FK Crvena Zvezda

  • This was Tottenham’s biggest win in a major European competition (excluding qualifiers) since beating Anorthosis Famagusta 6-1 in the 2007-08 UEFA Cup, and their second-biggest ever European Cup/Champions League win, behind their 8-1 victory over Górnik Zabrzein September 1961.
  • Tottenham have become only the second side to win a Champions League game by 5+ goals having lost their previous game in the competition by 5+ goals after PSG in 2017 (beat Celtic 5-0 after 6-1 loss to Barcelona), and the first to do so in a single season.
  • Excluding qualifiers, Crvena Zvezda have lost each of their last six away matches in major European competition, conceding 22 goals in those defeats.
  • Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored 16 goals in the group stages of the Champions League; only Paul Scholes (19) has more amongst English players.
  • Spurs’ Son Heung-Min has scored more goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium than any other player in all competitions (7). Each of his last nine goals in the Champions League have been scored in England.
  • Erik Lamela, in what is his 200th appearance for Tottenham, either scored or assisted three or more goals in a single game (one goal, two assists) for only the third time for the club, and the first since September 2016 against Gillingham (one goal, three assists).

Manchester City 5-1 Atalanta

  • Manchester City’s victory was the biggest for an English side against an Italian side in all European competitions since Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Milan in 2010.
  • Atalanta have become the first Italian side to lose their first three Champions League games, and the first side overall since Otelul Galati in 2011-12.
  • Manchester City have won three of their last five Champions League games in which they conceded the first goal (D1 L1).
  • Man City’s Raheem Sterling scored his first ever Champions League hat-trick, becoming the 8th different English player to do so in the competition.
  • Man City’s Sergio Aguero became just the second player to score 20 Champions League goals at an English stadium (21), after Ruud van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford (23).
  • Man City’s Phil Foden (19y 147d) became the second youngest English player to be sent off in a Champions League match after Glen Johnson for Chelsea against Lazio in November 2003 (19y 73d).

RB Salzburg 2-3 Napoli

  • Napoli have scored three goals in an away game in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
  • Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Haaland is the first player to score as many as six goals in his first three Champions League appearances.
  • Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Haaland is the second-youngest player to score a penalty in the Champions League (19y 94d) after Bojan did so for Barcelona vs Sporting CP in November 2008 (18y 90d).
  • Dries Mertens brace was just the third scored away from home in the Champions League by a Napoli player and the first since Arkadiusz Milik netted twice against Dynamo Kyiv in September 2016.
  • Dries Mertens has now scored 116 goals for Napoli in all competitions; more than Diego Maradona netted for the club (115).
  • José Calléjon has assisted two goals in his last four away games in the Champions League – he failed to register a single assist in his previous 16 games away from home in the competition (for Real Madrid and Napoli).

Inter Milan 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

  • Borussia Dortmund have now alternated between a defeat and a win in their last seven away games in the Champions League (3 wins, 4 defeats).
  • Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has never lost a home Champions League group stage match, winning five and drawing six of his 11 such matches across spells at Juventus, Chelsea and Inter.
  • Lautaro Martinez has now scored in four straight matches in all competitions (5 goals), as many goals as he netted in his previous 26 games for Inter Milan.
  • Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has become just the fourth Englishman to appear in 10 Champions League matches as a teenager after only Theo Walcott (17), Trent Alexander-Arnold (12) and Jack Wilshere (11).
  • Lautaro Martinez become the first player to miss a penalty for Inter Milan in a Champions League match since Adriano back in March 2006 against Ajax.
  • Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel tonight became the third Belgian to appear in 50 Champions League matches after Vincent Kompany (51) and Daniel van Buyten (52).

Slavia Prague 1-2 Barcelona

  • Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 17 Champions League group stage matches (W12 D5 L0) since losing 3-1 to Man City in November 2016.
  • Slavia Prague are winless in eight Champions League matches (W0 D3 L5), losing their two home matches of this campaign.
  • Lionel Messi became the first player to score a Champions League goal in 15 consecutive seasons, scoring at least once in every season from 2005/06 to the current campaign.
  • This was only Barcelona’s fourth away Champions League win in their last 12 such Champions League matches (W4 D6 L2).
  • Slavia Prague are the 33rd opponent that Lionel Messi has scored against in the Champions League for Barcelona, equalling the competition record set by Raúl and Cristiano Ronaldo.
  • Barcelona have benefitted from 15 own-goals in the Champions League, the joint-most of any side (also Real Madrid on 15).

  • RB Leipzig have now alternated between a win and a defeat in their last eight games in the Champions League (4 wins, 4 defeats).
  • RB Leipzig have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their nine games in the Champions League.
  • RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer has been involved in five goals in his last six appearances in the Champions League (1 goal, 4 assists).
  • Konrad Laimer’s equalizer for Leipzig made him the youngest Austrian to score a Champions League goal since David Alaba in October 2013 (22 years, 149 days).
  • Zenit St Petersburg’s Yaroslav Rakitskiy scored just the second Champions League goal in his career, eight years and 200 days after his first (Shakhtar Donetsk vs Barcelona, April 2011) – the longest gap between two goals since Nicolas Pareja had a gap of 10 years and 70 days between goals for Anderlecht in 2006 and Sevilla in 2016.
  • By making his Champions League debut for RB Leipzig, Ademola Lookman became the fourth Englishman to play a game in the competition for a German team after Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jadon Sancho (Dortmund) and Reiss Nelson (Hoffenheim).

Benfica 2-1 Lyon

  • Benfica have scored more than one goal in a Champions League home game for the first time since April 2016; a quarter-final match against Bayern Munich that ended 2-2.
  • Lyon have scored at least once in each of their last eight away games in the Champions League, last failing to score against Sevilla in September 2016.
  • Pizzi’s winner was his first-ever goal in the Champions League in what was his 34th appearance in the competition for Benfica.
  • Memphis Depay has been involved in eight goals in his last nine group stage matches in the Champions League (4 goals, 4 assists).
  • Rafa Silva’s goal in the fourth minute was the earliest Champions League goal Benfica have scored since Nicolas Gaitan netted against Galatasaray in October 2015 (1:12).
  • Franco Cervi’s assist for Rafa Silva was his first goal involvement for Benfica in the Champions League for three years, since he netted against Dynamo Kiev back in October 2016.

Lille 1-1 Valencia

  • The average age of Lille’s starting line-up was 23 years and 261 days; their youngest in the Champions League this season and the youngest by a French side since Lyon played Sparta Prague back in December 2004 (23y 173d).
  • For their third consecutive Champions League campaign, Lille have failed to win any of their opening three Champions League group stage matches (P3 W0 D1 L2), having also been winless at this stage in 2011/12 and 2012/13.
  • Both Lille and Valencia have scored just two goals in their three Champions League games so far this season; only Bayer Leverkusen (1) and Galatasaray (0) have netted fewer.
  • Lille defender Tiago Djaló (19y 197d) is the third youngest Portuguese player to make their Champions League debut for a side outside of Portugal, after Cristiano Ronaldo (18y 238d – Manchester United) and Bruma (18y 328d – Galatasaray).
  • Denis Cheryshev’s opener was his first ever Champions League goal in what was his ninth appearance in the competition across spells for Real Madrid and his current side Valencia.
  • Jonathan Ikoné’s equaliser for Lille (94:18) is the latest goal by a French side in a Champions League game since Dejan Lovren scored for Lyon against Benfica back in November 2010 (94:22).

Club Brugge 0-5 Paris Saint Germain

  • PSG have won four consecutive away games in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.
  • Club Brugge have lost their first UEFA Champions League game since a 1-3 defeat away to Atlético Madrid in October 2018, ending a run of six such games without defeat (W1 D5). They’ve conceded more goals tonight than they did in their previous six games in the competition combined (3).
  • Club Brugge have conceded five goals at home in European Competition for the very first time in their history.
  • PSG have become the 11th team to score 200 goals UEFA Champions League history.
  • At 20 years and 306 days old, PSG’s Kylian Mbappe has become the youngest player to score 15 UEFA Champions League goals.
  • PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is the first substitute to score a hat-trick in the UEFA champions League since Villereal’s Joseba Llorente in October 2008.
  • PSG’s Mauro Icardi has scored seven goals in just nine UEFA Champions League games (3 for PSG, 6 for Inter Milan) – he has now scored in each of his last four games for PSG in all competitions.

Galatasary 0-1 Real Madrid

  • Real Madrid have ended a run of three UEFA Champions League games without a win (D1 L2), with this their first win of the 2019-20 campaign.
  • Galatasary have failed to win any of their last eight UEFA champions League games (D2 L6), failing to score in seven of those eight games.
  • Real Madrid scored in the first half of a UEFA Champions League game for the first time in seven games, since scoring four first half goals against Viktoria Plzen in November 2018. Today was their first clean sheet in the competition since a 0-2 away win against Roma in November 2018, having conceded 13 goals in their five previous such games.
  • Galatasary have faced 27 shots in this game, the most they’ve faced in a UEFA Champions League game since Opta started recording the data in 2003.
  • Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos has scored on his 100th appearance in the UEFA Champions League, he’s the fifth player to do so in the competition, after Thierry Henry, Andre Pirlo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Olympiakos 2-3 Bayern Munich

  • Bayern Munich have won five of the last seven Champions League games in which they have conceded the first goal (W2), including both this season having also beaten Spurs 7-2 after conceding first.
  • Bayern Munich’s first goal was the 200th that Olympiakos have conceded in the Champions League, making them the seventh club to let in that many in the competition (also Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona, Porto, Man Utd and Arsenal).
  • Bayern have now won all five of their European Cup/Champions League games versus Olympiakos, their best such 100% winning record against a single side.
  • Robert Lewandowski has scored in 12 consecutive games for Bayern Munich in all competitions, scoring 18 times in this run.
  • Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has scored 18 goals in his 13 appearances in all competitions this season, at least six more than any other player in the big-five European leagues.

Juventus 2-1 Lokomotiv Moscow

  • Juventus have only lost two of their last 39 home Champions League group stage games (W27 D10).
  • Lokomotiv Moscow haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 14 Champions League away games.
  • There were just two minutes and 29 seconds between Paulo Dybala’s two goals for Juventus tonight.
  • Lokomotiv Moscow became the 50th different side Juve’s Cristiano Ronaldo has played against in the Champions League – only Iker Casillas (53) and Ryan Giggs (51) have faced more in the competition.
  • Juventus’ Paulo Dybala ended a run of six Champions League games without a goal with his brace tonight.

Shakhtar Donetsk 2-2 Dinamo Zagreb

  • Dinamo Zagreb ended a run of 13 straight away defeats in the Champions League proper, avoiding defeat for the first time on the road in the competition since a 2-2 draw at Marseille in November 1999.
  • Shakhtar Donetsk have gone five games without a win at home in the Champions League (D3 L2), their longest ever winless run on home soil in the competition.
  • Dodô scored the 80th goal by a Brazilian player for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League (excluding own goals); only Barcelona (85) have had more goals scored by Brazilians in the competition's history.
  • Shakhtar’s Yevhen Konoplyanka scored what was just his third Champions League goal, and his first in four years and one day since finding the net for Sevilla against Manchester City in October 2015.
  • Aged 21 years, 168 days, Dinamo Zagreb’s Dani Olmo is the youngest Spanish player to score his first Champions League goal for a non-Spanish club since Rodrigo Moreno (20y 241d) for Benfica against Basel in November 2011.
  • Mislav Orsic has been directly involved in each of Dinamo Zagreb’s last five Champions League goals (four goals, one assist).

Atlético de Madrid 1-0 Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Atlético Madrid have lost just one of their last 20 home games in the UEFA Champions League, winning 15, drawing four and conceding just eight goals.

Bayer Leverkusen have lost three consecutive UEFA Champions League games in a single campaign for the first time since 2002-03, when they lost seven in a row.

Since the start of 2013-14, Atlético Madrid have kept 36 clean sheets, from 65 games, more than any other team in the competition.

Alvaro Morata scored his first UEFA Champions League goal since netting for Chelsea against Atlético Madrid in September 2017. He is the first player to score for both Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League/European Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz is still looking for his first UEFA Champions League win – he has won none, drawn two and lost seven of his previous nine matches with Borussia Dortmund and Leverkusen.
