The Saints are linked with Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt, however they have stated that the Dutch 23-year-old is not to act as a replacement for van Dijk.

The odds on van Dijk to stay on the south coast have shortened to 6/4 with Sky Bet, while Liverpool are now 5/4 to capture the Dutch international.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Hull City have confirmed that they have had a £10million bid for Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore turned down.

Matuidi is reportedly close to signing a three-year contract with the Serie A champions for a fee in the region of £20million.

In other news, the FA has granted Brighton's potential club-record signing Jose Izquierdo a work permit, meaning that a deal may be done. The Seagulls must now proceed to register the player subject to international clearance.

1445: Southampton are interested in Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt, Press Association Sport understands.

The Dutch defender is reportedly the subject of a £15.5million bid from Mauricio Pellegrino's men.

This could be promising for Liverpool fans as Hoedt could be lined up as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who is now 5/6 with Sky Bet to join the Reds.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman announced at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the the 27-year-old Iceland international has passed his medical.

Sigurdsson's proposed switch has dragged on for most of the summer with Swansea initially valuing their star man at £50million. But Everton are finally set to secure their number one target to take their summer spending to over £140million.

1340: Premier League Burnley have bid £12million for Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone in a bid to bolster their attack following Andre Gray's move to Watford.

In the last year, he has made huge progress and personally I want him to stay here for a long time."

1145: Real Madrid’s hopes of signing young prospect Kylian Mbappe have been given a boost with Paris Saint-Germain now doubting whether they should push on with their pursuit of the Monaco sensation, reports Marca.

PSG have faced a huge backlash after their world-record £200million purchase of Brazilian Neymar and bringing in 18-year-old Mbappe could antagonise this further.

The Parisian club are still favourites to sign the teenager at 4/11. However Real Madrid are now 10/1 to capture his signature, while he is 15/8 to remain at Monaco.

1030: News on another of this summer's transfer sagas - Arsene Wenger is ready to accept the financial "sacrifice" of keeping Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal and admits there has been no progress on a new deal for the forward.

The Frenchman insisted last week it was his decision not to sell Sanchez and he is more than prepared to miss out on a pay-day by sticking to his guns.

However, there had been no headway made on tying the former Barcelona man down to a new contract, so this story seems like it will remain ongoing until the end of the window.
