Tottenham complete signing of Leeds United winger Jack Clarke on four-year deal

Tottenham have completed the signing of Leeds United winger Jack Clarke, who joins the club for an initial £9.5m fee.

The 18-year-old has penned a four-year deal with last season's Champions League finalists.

Clarke broke into the Whites first-team during the 2018/19 campaign and made 25 appearances as Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

It was expected that Clarke would stay at Spurs to battle for a place in the first-team, but the youngster will now return to West Yorkshire on-loan for the 2019/20 season.

With future add-ons, the deal could rise to £13m, with the Elland Road outfit also holding a small sell-on clause.

Clarke is Spurs' first signing since Lucas Moura signed from Paris Saint-Germain for a £25m fee on deadline day in January 2018.

Tottenham are expected to conclude another signing in the coming days, with Sky Sports reporting that they have agreed to pay a club-record fee of around £65m for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The 22-year-old France international will also sign a five-year deal.

Speaking to French publication Telefoot last week, he said: "It's true that Tottenham are a great team - a big club. They finished fourth in their league, they were finalists in the Champions League.

"They are a big club like many others. Which player would not be interested in a big club?"

Leeds are on the verge of completing the signing of Wolves' Helder Costa, with the winger set to join on a season-long loan with the option to buy.

The Whites have already confirmed the additions of Manchester City's Jack Harrison and Brighton defender Ben White on a temporary basis.

They have also announced the signing of Carlisle winger Liam McCarron, who will initially link-up with the club's under-23s side.

With wingers the main priority, former Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn believes that the West Yorkshire club should also target a striker in the transfer window.

Speaking last week, Martyn said: "I’d like to see some fresh faces in the summer – probably another striker. I know he plays a good style of football, keeping the ball, and to be able to do that, you probably need five in midfield.

"At that standard, that enables you to keep the ball, but Bamford, Roofe or whoever is upfront, sometimes gets a little bit isolated."
