Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham highlights & report: Marcus Rashford double sees Mourinho lose Old Trafford return

Two goals from Marcus Rashford ensured Jose Mourinho lost on his return to Old Trafford with Man Utd beating Tottenham 2-1.

Less than a year after being sacked as background backbiting compounded poor performances, Mourinho returned to the Old Trafford touchline at a time when pressure was increasing on his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the club's worst start to a season since 1988.

Mourinh failed to become the first Tottenham boss to win his first three top flight games as two goals from Rashford, one from the penalty spot, came either side of a fantastic Dele Alli finish and give the hosts a deserved three points.

Rashford opened the scoring after just six minutes at Old Trafford beat Davinson Sanchez on the left and then foired the ballunder slammed the ball under the Spurs keeper Paulo Gazzaniga - who should really have done a lot better.

United had a few other chances, but Spurs drew level in fine style with a goal of great inginuity from Alli, who flicked the ball over his own head and slotted it away brilliant after a messy scramble.

Just four minutes after the interval United went back in front from the penalty spot as Rashford converted from 12 yards, after he himself had been fouled by Moussa Sissoko.

United claimed three deserved points that moves then above Tottenham and into sixth place in what is a tight middle of the pack in the Premier League this season.
