Bristol City 2-3 Manchester City: Another winning Carabao Cup tip in semi-final second leg

Manchester City kept alive their hopes of an unprecedented quadruple by reaching the Carabao Cup final with a 3-2 win at Bristol City.

Goals from Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne secured a 5-3 aggregate triumph and manager Pep Guardiola's first cup final in English football.

Marlon Pack's 64th-minute header and a close-range strike from Aden Flint in stoppage-time looked like giving Bristol City a draw on the night after falling 2-0 behind, but De Bruyne scored with the final kick of the match.

Bristol City went out to 200/1 with Sky Bet to reach the final when the Premier League leaders, who were as short as 1/500 to progress, went 1-0 up on the night to create some nervous moments during the final stages of the game.

Manchester City are now as short as 1/2 with Sky Bet to win the Carabao Cup.

There's also 28/1 on offer with the online bookmaker for Guardiola's side to win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Nick Hext backed Manchester City to win and both teams to score for our fourth winning tip from four selections in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

That followed on from success with no goalscorer at 12/1 and under 1.5 goals at 77/20 in the clash between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, while Manchester City to beat Bristol City and both teams to score at 9/5 got the run of success started at the Etihad Stadium.

Sky Bet's biggest winning RequestABet was the 50/1 selection of Marlon Pack to score, both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and Fernandinho to be carded.

Post-match reaction

Kevin de Bruyne thinks Manchester City deserve their place in the final of the Carabao Cup.

"Very pleased. We played a very good game. They had two chances with the long balls and it's a little bit of a shame that they score two times but today we were very good," De Bruyne told Sky Sports Football.

"We didn't really give them opportunities and in the end we scored in the last minute.

"We came here, we knew the crowd would be up for it but we managed to keep them quiet. We controlled the game very well and especially in the first half they didn't get any chances.

"After the 2-0 they were going to play long balls and in the end I think we deserved to go to Wembley."

Pep Guardiola played down that he could win his first cup final at the club, and said: "It's not for me, no, it's for Manchester City.

"The club is trying to reach another level that wasn't in the past with (Roberto) Mancini, with (Manuel) Pellegrini they achieve that and we try to keep going in that level.

"We are so happy. We played an amazing game."

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson hailed the Premier League side and admitted they were just too good.

"We came close to a draw today. They are a top, top side, probably the best side I've seen live," the 36-year-old said.

"They have so many players that are intricate and have class on the ball and sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say 'they are a better side than us'.

"But the spirit we showed, we never gave in and we continued to try and attack and scored two goals and not many teams can score two goals against a side like that.

"It's a good lesson for the boys and I think we'll take that into the Championship. It's a positive lesson and we're a good side in the Championship and now we'll get to focus on the league and it will be a really good run in until the end of the season."
