Premier League 2020/21 title odds: Man Utd the best backed side to win next year's title as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side continue hot streak

A clinical display against Villa saw Man Utd make some Premier League history, and also saw their odds on winning next year's title cut even further.

Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood together up front, the Red Devils have been flying. They have extended their unbeaten run to 17 games and scored 14 in their last four league wins.

Their 3-0 demolition of Aston Villa on Thursday, meant they became the first Premier League side to win four straight games by three goals or more - and the first in the top flight since Liverpool in 1987.

It also continued the trend for United being backed off the boards for both this season's top four, but also next season's Premier League title, as they're now in to 8/1 to win next year's title ahead of Man City and Liverpool - who are Evens and 6/4 respectively.

With Leicester dropping like a stone and Chelsea inconsistent, United have been cut into 1/8 to finish in the top four, when they opened up after the break as 13/8 shots following consistent money over the lockdown.

Sky Bet's traders report: "We have laid a lot of money for Man Utd on everything going really. When we returned from lockdown they were a 13/8 chance for a top four finish and are now into 1/8."

United now have a six-point gap over Wolves in fifth and are just a point behind fourth-placed Leicester - who they face in their final game of the season.

It's United's current form, and in particular the production and potential of that front three, along with Bruno Fernandes in behind, that has punters scrambling to back the Red Devils' revival to be an instant one - and see them challenging for the title next season.

Sky Bet added: "We opened on them to win the Premier League next season at 28/1 and have seen nothing but support for them and are now as short as 8/1 after gradual cuts throughout the last three weeks.

"After Saturday's win over Bournemouth money continued to fly in. We are also now into 1/2 on them for a top four finish next season after initially chalking them up at 8/11."

Why Man Utd have found form

The signing of Fernandes was no doubt a catalyst and he's been top drawer from the very first kick. His influence on others is almost as good as his production, as he's tallied 13 goal involvements in his first 10 Premier League games - that's a joint-record alongside Mick Quinn's efforts at Coventry.

The nine games it took him to get to double figures of goal involvements was the same time it took Eric Cantona and Robin van Persie - which shows you what type of level Fernandes is operating at.

The budding relationship between Fernandes and Paul Pogba could also be extremely influential going forward - and goals just seem to flow whenever the two are on the same pitch.

Fernandes has provided such a difference that it may even convince Pogba to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, as the excitement level builds with the Portuguese playmaker pulling the strings for what could be a front three to rival any of those others around.

United's front three potential

After persisting with Daniel James on the right of a front three for a while, Solskjaer finally gave Greenwood his shot. Gary Neville said the teenager was getting hard to leave out due to his form, and he's been proven right.

Greenwood's got more Premier League goals already in a season than any other 18-year-old or younger apart from Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Wayne Rooney - if he can continue keeping pace with that trio's scoring records then he'll be some player.

It's going to be a fascinating battle of front threes next season with Liverpool's all-conquering Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane having real competition from both United and Chelsea - who could field Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic in the same line-up.

United have already started delivering though - Rashford, Martial and Greenwood have 56 goals between them this season across all competitions - Salah's double at Brighton took Liverpool's front three total to 54.

There are similarities between the two forward lines as well, right-footed Rashford has pace, power and skill down the left, left-footed Greenwood cuts in off the right and looks to have that goal-scoring touch - sound familiar?

Martial is a different player to Firmino and looks to be more of a scorer than a creator, but the goals speak for themselves and with another positive display at Villa, United's odds for this and next season will come crashing.
