James Maddison will not be leaving Leicester City this summer after the club confirmed he's signed a new contract to keep him at the King Power until 2024.
The 23-year-old was fancied to make a move to Manchester United this summer, but the former Norwich man has now committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new deal.
The England international was injured during Leicester's run-in as Brendan Rodgers' side faded out of the Champions League places, and will now be playing Europa League football next season instead.
Maddison still believes that the club made great strides last season just to compete for a Champions League spot, and is happy to extend his stay at Leicester.
"I’m so happy to sign a new contract for this football club," Maddison told the Leicester website. "It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Leicester City player with so many positive things happening on and off the pitch and I’m delighted to be part of that. What we’ve achieved as a Club this season is a huge step forward for us and I know there’s so much more to come from this team.
“I’ve enjoyed every moment since joining Leicester City. The supporters have been incredible to me and we’ve a fantastic set of players in that dressing room who are determined to show what we’re capable of doing together in both Europe and the Premier League next season.”
Maddison has scored 16 goals in 76 games for Leicester and has become a key man in the side, along with Jamie Vardy, and his absence down the stretch was a big reason for their struggles.
The former Coventry Academy graduate made his England debut in November in their Euro 2020 qualifer against Montenegro, and is still fancied to be a part of Gareth Southgate's squad for next summer's rearranged tournament.
