Liverpool are 8/11 to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson after reports in Italy said an offer had been lodged for the Brazil number one of €70m.
One of the longest-running transfer stories of the summer looks to be coming to a head with Sky in Italy reporting that Liverpool have made a firm offer for Alisson.
Earlier indications had been that the Reds had no intention of making an offer for the 25-year-old but talks are now thought to have begun in what looks like being a world record transfer for a goalkeeper.
Rumblings that Real Madrid are going to sign Thibaut Courtois may have injected a sense of urgency at Anfield, as Chelsea would then also been chasing a big-name goalkeeper and are known to be Alisson admirers.
As a result, Liverpool are now 8/11 favourites to sign Alisson with Chelsea at 15/8 with Courtois a huge odds-on shot at 1/4 to sign for Champions league winners Real Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp has publicly insisted that Loris Karius will be given the chance to redeem himself after his Champions League nightmare, but that would be a huge risk to take and could wel lhave been a smoke screen.
Alisson helped Roma to the Champions League semi-finals last season, where they lost out 7-6 to Liverpool, and also played every game for Brazil at the World Cup when getting the gloves ahead of Manchester City's Ederson.
Jack Butland and Kasper Schmeichel have been mentioned in connection with Liverpool but Alisson has bene the top target from the start and the wheels may finally gone in motion in what would be a huge statement from Klopp's side about theirintent for the coming season.
