Paul Cook is the new 6/4 favourite to become Bristol City's next manager.
Currently in charge of crisis club Wigan, Bristol Live claim Cook is high on the Robins' shortlist after his recent interview with the City hierarchy.
The 53-year-old is widely expected to leave the DW Stadium after three years due to off-field circumstances and he is set to rival Chris Hughton for the Ashton Gate post, which is available after Lee Johnson's exit earlier this month.
Johnson was sacked earlier this month after four years, with his side on a nine-game winless run. They had five games of the season remaining and went on to finish 12th in the Sky Bet Championship.
Cook's Wigan, meanwhile, would have finished below them in 13th but for a 12-point deduction imposed by the EFL after going into administration, which then saw them relegated back to the third tier.
Before that, the Latics had collected 57 points, 39 of them coming in 2020 as one of the division's form teams.
Paul Cook will leave Wigan Athletic on Wednesday after resigning from his role as manager, following the club going into administration earlier this month.

Cook won promotion from Sky Bet League One with Wigan in 17/18 before guiding them to safety the following campaign. In years previously, he has guided Portsmouth and Chesterfield to promotion from League Two.
The popular Liverpudlian most recently made the headlines when, with Wigan financially stricken and in administration, his side thrashed Hull 8-0 (below).
Cook is priced at 6/4 with Sky Bet after his interview for the post while former Brighton, Birmingham, Norwich and Newcastle boss Hughton is 2/1. Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe is next in the betting at 8/1.
